IT'S NOT HEALTHY! IT'S JUNK!

Recommended Posts

Our food supply- like most other things in our society- is controlled by people who have money. The people who have the money are unfortunately people who make junk food. And the government subsidises corn and grain- not healthy fruits and veg. Junk food is made by people with the money to market well. I feel hopeful that eating well seems to be taking a turn towards eating real foods and not the fad diets that have taken place in the past. People want to be healthy but it is hard when there are so many different messages. I wish public school would reintroduce classes that teach nutrition and basic cooking skills- I'm happy so many nonprofits and after school programs are taking initiative.

I really hate the thought that if I pick up a treat for him, some self-righteous woman next to me in a supermarket is automatically labeling me a lazy parent. Just a thought.

On the other hand, I couldn't give a rat's patootie what anyone thinks about the contents of my cart. ;)

Such negativity for her thoughts...

I probably would have initially thought the same that they are giving in and buying junk food for a kid but if that's the way to get a picky eater to eat yogurt then sure go for it. I think it's also better than buying a full bag of m&m's at the checkout stand.

I judge people's carts. I judged when I was overweight. I judged when I was doing my crazy couponing days. I know I'm almost always judged in return. It just human nature to see where we rank amongst our neighbors. It's the whole keeping up with the jones' attitude. I'm not passing judgement here (lol) but let's have some tolerance amongst us.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
