I'm on day 4 of a low carb/high protein/soft food pre-op. I don't feel hungry and its going well.

It consists of Protein Shake before each "meal", And I'm actually liking my strained "Light" soup..very easy to do.

I am going to be totally sick of yogurt by the time this is over though :(

Good morning everyone!! I noticed last night and this morning that I'm getting cramps in my legs. I walk every day and i drink 80oz+ of Water so i'm guessing my body is missing my bananas. I'm going to start drinking a Powerade zero at night to see if it helps relieve them.

Hope your pre-op diets are going great!

Hi everybody. Just wanted to join in and say. The toughest thing for me during this liquid diet is knowing it will last 6 weeks. I hope I can loose a couple pounds before surgery. Trying to prepare for surgery. Not sure what I need for the clear liquid diet part as far as clear Protein.< /p>

You can buy unflavored protein powder...which you can add to any clear liquid/drinks. I just bought some online from the "Nectar" brand. I think Unjury also has a chicken flavored Protein Powder that they would consider clear.

I just ordered the same thing from unjury. I ordered it Sunday so I hope it arrives before Monday. I bought a food thermometer as well.

How does your post surgery diet look? Mine is straight liquids for 3 days, then on to Soups until the 21 day mark and then on to softs until the 42nd day.

Wow doing ok on liquids so far. I find am allergic to fake sugars. I will be on Clear Liquids for 3 days after surgery and liquid for two weeks then soft food. Still getting nervous. Just the unknown I guess.

My post op diet starts when I get home on the 3rd day. I will basically be on Atkins. meat ,cheese, fish ,eggs, or cottage cheese, pureed until the two week mark from surgery. Then I can have same things not pureed. The first week of december I can add a half cup veggies daily. December 22nd I can start half cup fruit a day.at 6months (March) I can have half cup dairy and 1cup caffeine.

At 7months I can add 1complex carb. No alcohol for at least a year (rarely rrink anyways)

My preop diet is going well so far. In the first few days, I was dropping like 3-4lbs daily, then it slowed down to 1lb or less daily. So far in the past few weeks, I've lost 25lb from the start and 33lbs from my highest weight. Hopefully when I weigh myself tomorrow, I'll be in twunderland (don't know how to spell it!). Haven't seen the 200s in a couple years! ;)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
