banded one week - no restriction

Recommended Posts

For some people it takes a while to get any restriction. I had my surgery in October and had to get four fills before I got good restriction. It was very discouraging to hear everyone else talk about how much weight they lost, and my scales weren't moving! I lost weight the first two weeks after surgery and then it came to a screeching halt.

My first fill was mostly absorbed by the band, each fill afterwards I didn't feel any restriction. The last put me at 3.5 in a 4.0 band and FINALLY I feel restricted enough to reduce the amount of food I can eat. It's ony been a week since my last fill, so if this fill maintains me, I'll be a happy camper, finally. So, dont' get discouraged.

Congrats on the 17 lb. loss!!!! He had me on Clear Liquids 2 weeks prior to surgery then 2weeks after surgery. I saw him on 1-16 and they said I could go to full liquids. My next appt. is not until 2-20 so I think at that point it should be mushies/soft food. I am curious as to when I will get my first fill.

Janet

janet,

i honestly got VERY hungry after a week on clear liquids--i kind of "graduated myself" to thicker Soups....and was much happier, particularly because i went back to work the 2nd week and HAD to have something to keep my stomach from growling (and feeling really MISERABLY hungry). had no problems with the thick Soup for lunch, and still sipping on clear liquids (diet snapple--my new best friend) a lot of the time.

do you "feel" your band? i swear i FEEL something in my insides--maybe it's still just sore...anybody have any "feelings" inside--above the ribcage?

Good luck with transitioning to thicker liquids--eat slow--and it's a snap! :D

Hola,

Well I am just over a week, and started on "soft" food on Friday, I thought I had no restricition since Soup, yougurt, oatmeal, everything was flowing fine and then tonight I decided to try some chicken (roasted very moist) and let's just say found out I definately have restricion! I won't be doing that again anytime soon. I would say I had my first stuck food. Yes my Dr does have chicken as a O.K food for week 2, and I am sure I ate more than I should have. Let's just say I have learned my lesson, you do NOT want to do that! leave it up to me to test the waters ;0

oooo- I get banded next Wed (1/31) and am so fearing when the time comes that I test the waters and end up in pain. eek! I don't know what I think... some people do only liquids for 2 full weeks and others start soft foods. If I can do it, I think I am going to try to do liquids only. (I say this now, we'll see! :D)

The only thing that I have noticed, I don't like wearing a bra with underwires in it any longer than necessary. I don't know if it's because of the gas pressure or what, but I can't wait to set the twins free, if you know what I mean!! Ha! It's a pressure feeling that sits right below the breastline in the center. I don't have an incision there, but that's the only noticeable thing that I have experienced "on the inside."

This is my first time to post! I was banded on 1/22/07 and I did great!! I am really hungry?? Any suggestions?

I was on clear liquids for the first 2 days. I called and told the office that I was hungry. They told me to go to the Protein Shakes. I'm doing this but I still don't seem satisfied?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
