Approved for Oct.24th Band to Sleeve Revision

Recommended Posts

Well, I am officially approved for band to sleeve revision on Oct. 24th.

My doc wants to do it in ONE surgery. My band has been drained for 2 years so he feels one surgery would be fine. I pray that is the right decision.

I am having a bitter sweet moment... I am excited for the new journey and praying it is the best decision for myself and that I am successful especially since I was NOT on the band. But the biggest struggle to me is having a 15 month old son that needs me. The thought of not picking him up for 6 weeks seems like eternity and I am sure will be so hard on both of us.

I can't really afford to put it off because insurance approved it and I my deductibles are met for this year.

So I really hope and pray this decision works out for both of us :)

I think having an active mom in the future will pay off.

So I'm joining the Oct new band to sleeve revisions :)

I had major surgery when my youngest was that age, we made a game of him climbing onto my lap. it worked for us! You can get thru it....

I had my revision on September 10, 2012 and it was absolutely the best thing I could have done. I now weigh under 200 pounds, I bounce between 167-170, a place that I have not been since my teens. Did not get here with the band at all. I wish you all the best and you will do fantastic!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
