5 day pouch test - day 3 report

Recommended Posts

Woo-hoo!!!!!!! The scale gods smiled on me today!! hee hee!! Down 4 lbs total. But better than that I feel back in control. I am excited about eating right. I have actually been craving healthy foods. Yesterday I had 2 scrambled eggs for Breakfast a Fit Frappe mid morning and you would think I would be tired but no...I had the best 5K run this year breaking a new record for myself. lunch was salmon, dinner I cheated and went to a firm protien and had chicken.

I spent some time on this site and have learned more about this 5:2 plan that some of the veteran's follow. I really like the idea and think it fits with my lifestyle. Basically the two liquid days I had ended up about 500 calories or so. I have a big cycling event on Saturday and another 5K on Sunday so I could use the extra calories so i have made an executive decison to transition my 5 day pouch test at this point to the 5:2 plan!

I will use the 2,000 calorie guidline but in sticking with the pouch rules...choose firm protien for my bulk of the calories. Monday will be a 500 calorie fasting day for sure each week and I think either Wednesday or Thursday will be my other one.

I won't clog up the message board here anymore but thank you so much to all for the encouragement and the wonderful advice I am finding on this site.

Keep rocking those sleeves!

Amy, I thank you for sharing. No one likes to struggle, but it is a part of life and watching someone own up to a struggle, and own what they want to do to get control is instrumental for all of our success.

The good, the bad and the ugly.. We should see it all!

I couldn't agree more and its super important for the new patients to see that it really is a life long struggle regardless of surgery. BUT ----with the sleeve you are armed to win it.

Could you please explain how the pouch test works? I would like to try this and see if it will help me cure my need to graze!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
