6 days post-op...feeling weak!

Recommended Posts

I've been improving my Protein intake daily but today I woke up & took a shower & it took a lot out of me! I thought I'd be more entergetic almost a week out. Maybe I'm expecting too much? It's just scary b/c I actually felt better during the weekend.

That's totally normal. When I was a week out, absolutely everything exhausted me. I actually had to lay down after taking a shower. Your body is still deep in healing mode. Just keep getting in as much Protein as you can and don't worry about it... you will get your energy back soon. I'm one month out now, and honestly can't say I felt close to normal until sometime last week.

Thanks Bella! I was hoping this was common & it wasn't just me or something wrong! Congrats to you!

I'm day 6 now and I understand what you're going through. I get tired easily and I think yesterday I overdid it a bit but I am finally starting to feel better.

I thought I would have all this energy right after surgery too, sadly I did not. To be honest with you it probably took 3 months for me to get the energy I expected to have after surgery.

I had the surg 9/11 and I am feeling tired and shaken today. My dr gave me a 10 day clear liquid diet post op, then can add 4 oz baby food day 11 thru 20. I am fine drinking the broth and juice and Water and Gatorade, but my tummy is really sensitive and I have to eat SLowly. I read that someone started eating applesauce pouches but I am thinking I would be better off getting more Protein. I tried the Isopure pre op but didn't like it and don't thinking could keep it down. Any suggestions for day 11? Is anyone else eating baby food?

I've got some unflavored Protein powder on order so when I move to soft foods in a few days I can eat different things but still get Protein.< /p>

I had the same experience as the OP. On day 2 after surgery, I got up and went to a picnic. On Day 3, I went to a meeting and lunch with friends and did fine. Then, day 4 and I hit a wall. Slept ALL the time. It does get better. I went back to work f/t at 2 weeks and did fine. That said, this Saturday, I slept for 16 hours straight. Crazy. I chalk it up to body healing and just trust the process. I have to believe our energy will come back! In the meantime, take it easy when you can!

I didn't get my energy back until around week 3. Hitting week 5 tomorrow and this past weekend was the 1st time I went to the grocery store and made it through with no problem. Hang in there!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
