Recommended Posts

I have always slept on my stomach, the past almost week since surgery I have became a back sleeper . It has not been as bad as I thought, but I wonder when I can sleep on my tummy again. I do miss it:(

It took me 3 weeks to not have pain at my main incision site. You should wait at least 2 weeks so you can be sure it's healing before you sleep on it.

I slept on my stomach the first night home. Put a pillow down to help support my stomach. no problems at all.

I had the same problem. I couldn't sleep on my back and i slept sitting up for the first week. Then week 2 i was able to sleep on the side and after week 3 i started sleeping on my stomach again

You should be okay after 1-2 weeks. I could sleep on my stomach after a few days. Hang I there you are healing every day

I'm pre-op and a tummy sleeper, too.

Thanks for the info.

Congratulations on your surgery.

My doc said it was ok during week 2. I used a pillow to support it bc there was a slight "pulling" feeling. Not painful, just strange.

Took me several weeks, even with the pillow. I was so glad when

that stage ended.

I slept on my stomach about 5 nights after surgery :) it he only problems I had we're when turning over... It was hard to do. Now, 3 months out, I find myself sleeping on my back and side as much as my stomach :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
