29th Plus 2 weeks, How's everybody doing ?

Recommended Posts

How's it going for everybody sleeved on the 29th ?

Just had my 2 week post op followup, lucky me I can go back to work full time on Monday.

Side effects noticed:

- Have to tighten the belt another notch :-)

- Some clothes are starting to feel a little big :-)

- Walking a lot more than I have in the past 20 years

- Little bit of re-flux that I never had before

- Little bit of tingling in the leg and arm, likely because I was readied for surgery and then waited and waited and waited I'm told, should work it's way out

- A slip of diet coke tastes horrible, 2 more weeks of puree'ed food

Hi. I was sleeved on August 23rd. I feel pretty good now. I had a complication and had to go for emergency surgery 4 days after the sleeve. I think it's been more difficult for me than most! I aspirated during the second surgery and ended up with pneumonia. I'm just about over that!

I'm on soft foods and have been enjoying tuna salad and deli chicken. Boiled eggs are ok but the thing that saved me is Premier Protein shakes from Sam's Club. That's the only way I get all of the Protein I need plus it counts toward fluids.

I've lost 28 pound so far since a week before surgery (when I went on the liquid diet). I hit a stall at 27 pounds for three days but today I had dropped another pound. I'm fitting into last years jeans, a size smaller! That made me happy!

With all of the complications and the fact that I still want to eat more, I'm not sure if it was worth it but talk to me in a few months! If I continue to lose weight, I'll be happy!

I'm doing well. My surgeon was spectacular. Very little pain, very small incisions. I went back to work a little too soon (10 days after surgery). I got really tired in the early afternoon because of the limited diet. I'm losing about a pound every third or fourth day which is just fine with me. I want it to come off faster; however, I will follow the recommended diet and keep up the Protein. My only concern is that I still lack motivation to exercise. I'm not sure why. Major changes (good or bad) tend to exhaust me mentally. I hope to get past this quick.

August 29'rs. No real change in weight but my clothes are getting looser. I'll take that. I need to concentrate on Protein and Vitamins (never got in the habit of taking vitamins before). Hope everyone is feeling well!

I was sleeved on the 23rd as well. I was admitted to ICU after 9 hours in the recovery room due to a heart rate of 170 that would not respond to drugs or treatment. They finally brought in a cardiologist and fixed me. Other than my heart flipping out, I have not had any complications.

I too feel that I still want to eat. I'm getting very discouraged and feel like I will never reach or maintain my goal weight.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
