Gail;

Kinda too groggy to call you on the phone~went into surg about 4pm and again another 2 hr procedure.

The adhesions were already attached back again onto my stomach. But he banded me!

Very similiar recovery but this one just kicking my butt a little bit more.

I don't have a private room like before~they have a full house tonight, so I had to go out into the lobby and post from there.

At this point I plan on returning to work on Sat.

I am watching foodtv.com

The nurse tried to give me sprite! So I am taking the opportunity and educating her on do and don'ts for lapband.

There was a family here earlier; their daughter was in w/ Dr.K doing lapband and so I tried calming them down with reassurance and educating them about this site.

I have already drank 2c of chick broth YUMMM!

If I can't sleep tonight I will browse boards and maybe post some but there is nothing else new.

I used to live in Reno and graduated from UNR in 96. Just wanted to say hi and give a shout out to Reno! Good luck everyone, I wish I had a Virginia Lake to walk around. Just think how good you'll look at Tahoe this summer.

Take Care,

Pamela

Good luck on April 3rd!

Post here and look at the april bandsters

Thank goodness the band will help us all.

There are some good before and after pics that were posted last couple of days.

YOu can ask the Reno group anything you want, without ridicule. We talk about EVERYTHING!

Gail

Your awesome, it just took me longer to get out of recovery, and I am still a little foggy.

Your comment was very heart felt

Did you ever get a hold of your friend with the bouncey houses?

Pam, glad to hear all is well!!!

Had a very strange night last night. Went to bed as usual. My wife was in getting ready and I was falling asleep, all of a sudden I started getting really tight in my muscles around the port area! It just kept getting worse and worse till I had to get up an move around. Then I started gettin muscle cramps in my stomach!

I ended up having to take some more Lortab and sitting in the chair in the livingroom for a few hours till I got relaxed. After about 1 am I got up and went and layed down in bed and slept the rest of the night. VERY STRANGE!!!! Guess I overdid it walking around last night!

I got up this morning and went to the bathroom, weighed and thank God, I am back below my pre surgery weight!!!

Everyone have a great day today! Pam TAKE IT EASY!!!!!!!!!

Chris~ I did see Tina.

I think the anesthesiologist makes all the difference in the world~1st time around I was smooth sailing, the second time around I had to take meds from being nauseated, and was real foggy until this AM. Also first time around I had -0- gas pains and I have bubbles and gas now. And I am right now really exhausted.

My port bulges , but I don't care I am getting TT in one year so they can fix it then.

My adhesions had already started back adhering to my organs~Dr.K. was happy he took me back so soon.

When I was wheeled into surgery Dr.K's surgery nurse greeted me and is the most pleasant lady, she calmed me down and talked to me while they hooked me up, and then whammo~(take 10 deep breaths please)next thing you know you are in recovery. The time before they were joking and I was not in a joking mood, I was glad the joking people weren't there.

I got to see pics of the band in placement, because (well you know) Did he do it?? So xray tech showed me pics. :)

I had a bariatrix shake for Breakfast. I am not weighing until Tues, I don't want to gain especially after I have been through this 2x.

I am going to Kohl's to buy a new robe, I have had this one for 20 years and it is my very favorite, but I did not realize that it is so worn you can almost see through it.

I can email those documents, so I will do it tonight.

All in all I feel the effects of this surgery so I might be a little slow and not so eager to hop out of bed.

Chris~speaking of hopping out of bed~even with my 1st surgery, I would feel muscle spasms and have to stretch my abdomin etc when I have been in one position for a long period of time.

I will post again later after the friggin gas pain get out of my left shoulder.

There is a lump about the size of 1/2 cup where the port is, do you think this is normal?

The nurses at SCORE did not seem to be concerned.

That is the only pain I have, and the pain is enough to keep taking my pain meds since I left the hosp. every 4 hours and I am a mean B**** right around the 3 hour point.

I went shopping most all day to get in the walking, I can't say I really enjoyed it but I knew I would be miserable just sitting at home in my recliner.

I had 8 oz shake breakfast

slimfast for lunch

1/2 cup-3/4 cup bean with bacon blended (my favorite) for dinner

total Water for the day 64 ounces so far

some of the port pain has subsided since shopping and dinner.

I carry alot of my weight in my upper body (big busted) and the port is located right under where the bra supports by B**bs and I don't want to make the port flip.

I hope the lump is okay too.

Chris is around your port swollen? Red was your port area swollen?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
