Hello everyone:

I am in the process of getting my requirements together so Dr. Woodman's office can send it all into the insurance company. I have seen the Nutritionist, the Pschye doc, seen Cindi, advised pcp to transfer copies of my records, asked pcp to send in comorbidities and referral.

Now I am waiting. I guess I will wait a week and call Dr. Woodman's office and see where I am. So I guess I am on my way?? :clap2:

Hope to get the surgery and loss 75 to a 100 lbs.

Anyone else out there trying to do the same thing?:)

Buffy

on doing something good for yourself! Whew, the process can be daunting! My initial doctor wanted to take like a min of 8 weeks to go through the process...and I couldnt wait that long due to changes in insurance. I found a new doctor and was finished with all of my requirements within 1 week. Another week went by and I was finally approved but didnt find out for almost another week. What I did is I called my insurance company EVERY day until I finally got someone who knew if I was approved or not. I was a pest but it worked out because my surgery is this Thursday.

I am on my 10 day pre-op diet (until Thursday) and have already lost 11 pounds. Yay! After the surgery, I have 2 more weeks of liquid and I wont be able to consume as much as I am now, so I cant wait to see how much more I lose. I hope to go from 230 down to at least 160 but I really would love to get down to 140...that would really toot my horn!

Good luck!

Hi Buffy,

I am in the same situation right now. I just made my first appt with the surgeon here in NH. I am getting so anxious to see how the weight comes off and looking forward to a new lifestyle and look. My start weight was 291, I had to lose 5% so I am now down to 272. My goal is to loose another 120 to 130 lbs after all is said and done.

Good Luck with your journey!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
