Bariatric Advantage for pre-op?

Recommended Posts

The NUT at my surgeon's office recommends them. I have tried them and I really like their taste. My favorite one is the banana and of course the chocolate. I hope you like them.

I have been using them during my pre op and now post op diets. They are not bad, but not the best tasing sometimes. I sometimes use a drop of almond extract in the chocolate or banana extract in either vanilla or chocolate to change them up a little. 1 scoop of vanilla, 1 scoop of chocolate, 1 sweet and low. 4 ice cubes and 1 drop of coffee extract is pretty good too.

Pre-op they were okay. I found I liked other brands better like Syntrax, Jay Robb, etc. Post-op I can't do them.

I used them for pre-op. They were SO MUCH BETTER than Opti-fast, and a LOT cheaper. However, they were only ok. I only got the vanilla flavored and just added sugar-free Jello mix in to flavor (the best was orange, which made a creamsicle). I just got really sick of them after a couple of days.

I personally hate the Bariatric Advantage. it tastes like they try too hard to make it taste "real" that it's worse than the cheap stuff. haha. I use pure Protein Powder. I like both the chocolate and vanilla. but I prefer the chocolate even though I'm usually a vanilla person!

I had to drink them in the hospital post-op -- the ones that come in the bottle and you add liquid and shake. I thought they were okay but not great. Sort of chemical-tasting.

Thanks for all the responses. I've heard that they give you a "full" or "satiated" feeling. True or false?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
