I had no problem with clear broth after surgery. Maybe not the 1st couple of days but could soon sip on a cup of broth with no problem. I did better with warm liquids in the beginning.

For me personally I tolerated warm liquids way better after surgery than cool or cold so I drank a lot of broth the first week. I kept a large container of swansons low sodium chicken broth in the fridge, warmed it up and sipped on that throughout the day to get my fluids in. I ate a lot of fat free broccoli cheese Soup as well and would mix it with half water/half milk. What was left over went in fridge and got eaten for next meal. I didn't start making Soups to freeze until I could do (vegetable Soup, Tomato spinach florentine) stuff with more substance. I tried freezing a cream soup last week and it did mot defrost well at all. Hope that helps!

the Soup will go right thru you. There really is no reason to make large amount of borth and freezing it. you'll be able to drink about half a cup every 30 minutes or so. You wont feel like drinking anything but you will have to if you want to keep your tummy calm. I got tired of broth about three days out and started on sugar free ice pops then powerades. i suggest you buy the ramen noodle packs in different flavors and just use the broth packages. it's the only way to change it up.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
