whats making you sucessful

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't be considered a fast loser, but I feel I have had success. I have just recently started being aware of leading a healthier lifestyle. Which means exercise (which is not my favorite) at least 6 days a week. Which is the treadmill for an hour a day. And making healthy food choices. I want the band to help me get into healthy habits so if someday (god forbid) something happens to my band I have changed my head enough that I don't regain every pound I've lost because my habits didn't change. Was that just a speach. SORRY! This sounds like the perfect world doesn't it.LOL

Well I think its different for everybody as we all have our different issues.

For me, key is not "dieting". I've left that behind forever. I just eat what I want when I want now - but I do "want" to make healthy decisions, so I eat really well most of the time. But if I want pancakes for Breakfast or some chocolate, I dont hesitate. I just have them and move on. I dont ban any foods at all, I eat bread regularly, I dont count Protein or calories. I'm nearly at goal weight and I really feel that by not overriding my body's instincts with a "diet" I've really changed my habits for the better. I'm no longer afraid of danger foods, they're not danger foods to me anymore.

I just havent approached banded life as being about rules. That always makes me rebel. I've done it more with a view to caring for myself and living the way i'd like to live for the rest of my life. And that means enjoying good food in moderation and getting lots of regular exercise.

:clap2: Awesome thinking. I'm sure this IS why you have been so successful!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
