Hi everyone!

So I had something happen tonight im not sure I understand ..I had about half an ounce or 9 spoon fulls or so of yogurt. figured out the sugar hit like a ton of bricks..ive come to believe I have sort of dumping.or sensitivity to sugar now. So to help things out..I was going to.eat some protien. So I had half a teaspoon of Peanut Butter. That didnt help much. So then I had about 5..6 spoonfuls of the ricotta cheese recipe on here. About 2 mintues later I felt some pain in my stomache. Im guessing this is an overeating feeling or was it the order I ate the food in? When you have ever over ate something..does your stomache hurt? I know these questions may sound silly to.some folks...but I haven't been on this journey long,. Thanks

I'll tell you what you did wrong. You should eat yogurt that is sugar free first off.

Second if you ate something that disagreed with you, the last thing you should do is eat MORE food to chase it with, and Peanut Butter? Fat (and sugar) would just make dumping worse.

Ditto with the cheese.< /p>

I would tend to agree with laura-ven as far as the food choices...as for the stomach pain, I do get a weird pain in my stomach when I overeat my sleeve...it tends to come on quickly so you have to be mindful...one bite and I'm fine...then with the next bite it seems like I cross the line to overeating...good luck on your journey (of learning)

Gina when was you surgery date?....that's relevant here. Are you on soft foods?

If you are dumping, the Peanut Butter is full of sugar. Instead try some PB2. It's got all the Protein, alot less sugar. And as Laura said, if you don't feel right, stop eating. I understand why you tried to "help things out"....makes perfect sense. But if you were dumping...or perhaps reaching your sleeve limit, more food to process is just going to make it harder on your new sleeve.

Next time try some cottage cheese instead, if you like that. But go easy....some people have a similar sensitivity to dairy after being sleeved.

This is a slight aside but perhaps relevant... Are you sure you are measuring correctly? Your amounts sound a lot to me for someone new to the sleeve, as I totted up around 16 teaspoons eaten fairly quickly. In the early weeks you would expect to take 20 mins to half an hour to eat that much.

I live in a metric world so am not the most familiar with ounces, but I thought 1 Oz = a bit less than 30g. This would make your half ounce yoghurt a 3 modest (flat) teaspoons, not 9.

Hopefully my maths is not wrong here, but my point is that speed matters.

PB2 is a Peanut Butter substitute. It's basically dehydrated peanuts. It's a powder, you mix it with Water and it makes peanut butter...but much healthier than the regular stuff.

Do you have an approved foods lists for soft foods? There's alot of info floating around here...but off the top of my head I ate alot of cottage cheese, oatmeal, chili with the meat finely ground, scrambled eggs....when do you go on solid foods?

If you don't have a list or a nutritionist and you're not sure what to eat, here's some general guidelines you could consider...although I think the timetable on this link is a little conservative. But better safe than sorry.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
