I was sleeved 2/19 and have lost 101 pounds! But two things have recently happened I thought was sorta weird. First, I've developed an allergy to all produce that is non-organic. I've never had a food allergy before and now I get itchy all over and a tight chest any time I eat non-organic produce.

The second thing is that sometimes I can eat a lot more (well a lot for a sleeved person) compared to other times. For example, last week I was able to eat a half a sandwich before I was full and this morning I couldn't even finish half of an egg.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Yes, this has happened to me. One day I can eat more and the next not so much. Mysurgeon said this is normal. The produce thing......Did you start eating all organic when this started?

yes, my restriction definitely varies. I notice that I have more restriction premenstrually, which is probably a good thing bc that's when I have the most cravings.

Ooh i hope that will happen to me!

OP, as far as the organic, i dont have a good explanation for you, but I believe it. food allergies can be really difficult to pinpoint, but if eating organic keeps the itchiness away, then do so! I have been afflicted for years with urticaria (hives) & angioedema (big hives/ deep tissue swelling). I believe I am sensitive to nonorganic meat and dairy; i am allergic to many antibiotics & i think i react to any that is given to the animals. So i stick to organic the best I can. On top of that, I take zyrtec every single day, so you might try that.

Yes, my restriction definitely varies also. Some days I feel like I can eat more (but don't, I usually stop at about the same amount), and other days I can only get in a few bites.

For sure even at 2 years post op my restriction fluctuates quite a bit! Normal :-) also since post op I can't tolerate artificial sweetners... So it's not uncommon to have adverse reactions to chemicals (such as preservatives in produce?)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
