Tomorrow will be the second endoscopy and balloon dilation for a recurring hourglass stricture. Originally my new stomach twisted causing this hourglass stricture. Then a week ago it was dilated using the endoscope just to twist back again. I'm just sharing in case anyone else is going through this or has gone through this.

I went through this but my stricture was at the end of my stomach. My surgeon did the dilation, but 2 days later it twisted closed again. So after that he put a metal stent in and that stayed in for almost 7 weeks which was awful. Even with the stent I couldn't get anything down and survived on plain Water until I finally had a PICC line inserted in order to get IV nutrition at night. I finally had the stent removed on 7-1 and after 10 long weeks of no food I can eat again and have started to feel human again. I didn't believe it when people told me I'd get better and move past the regret I was filled with during my long ordeal, but I did. I love the sleeve now. I hope you're better soon. I wouldn't wish what you're going through on anyone! Take care!

Hi,

I hope the stricures are better. Did the 2nd dilation work? I am scheduled to have my 2nd endoscope/dilation tomorrow. I am hopeful that this procedure will help my sleeve and help me to keep food and Fluid down.

Hi there. The 2nd dilation did not work for me. Four days later they placed the stent. My body totally rejected that and the stent was removed a week later. I'm still in the hospital now seeing if I can keep enough fluids down.

Oh no. I am so sorry to hear that. I hope that you have a swift recovery. So do they have a plan for what to do next?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
