Here I am 8 1/2 months out and down 82 lbs. I am older and do not exercise so I lose slowly. This surgery is a ride you will never forget. It is just amazing.

Everyone is DEFINITELY different, but I can understand wanting to gather some data. I was the same pre-op.

My start BMI was 42.7. I lost 10 lbs during the 2 weeks liver shrinking plan. The first 4 weeks after surgery I lost 20lb, the next 4 weeks I lost another 13.2 lb, and the third month I lost 9.4 lbs. I'm a couple of days past my third month-iversary ;) and have lost another little bit. My total loss since May 8th is 55 lbs.

There are some things about your loss rate that you can control, and a bunch of things you have no control over. I'm trying to just do all the things I know I'm supposed to be doing and beyond that, my mantra is "I will lose at exactly the rate that I am supposed to."

Our stats are almost identical. I lost 100 pounds at one year out. The weight falls off during the honeymoon period which for me was about six months. After that, you have to work at it like any other diet. I am in a private FB group with others that had their surgery the same month as me and I am very average with the weight loss. There are some that lost all their weight the first few months and others losing slower.

I can't tell you a month by month weight loss but I can tell you I am very happy with my results to this point and very happy that I had this surgery. I have never regretted it.

It's totally individual, so if you're just trying to get an idea of the range of success other people have had, that's great. But remember that comparing your particular loss pattern to anyone else's usually just makes you feel discouraged.

I had a BMI of 45.7 day of surgery. It took me 17 months to reach goal and lose 107 pounds.

I lost 23 pounds the first month, 11 the second (34), 10 the third (44) and 12 the fourth (56)...from that point forward I never lost in the double digits again, and my biggest loss month was month six where I lost 8 pounds. By one year out I was down 92 pounds. It took me six more months to shed the final 15 pounds to goal. From six months out, I lost roughly a pound a week if you average it out, but I had a nine week stall in that time frame and I also had a number of weeks where I logged losses in the tenths of a pound, too.

Wow thats really Great!

I'm Pre-op and have one more weigh in this month and one more next month!! I fee like time has flown really fast since May. I'm nervous and excited and just want to see what usually the average is for each month. Its taken me 4 months to lose 13..... and my weight likes to fluctuate between 262 and then goes up to 265 at times. Which I get irritated with that but then I remember its just another day and I find my self getting obsessed with the scale. So I've had to just make myself weigh only 3 times a week. I was weighing every morning and night.

But Yes I understand completely that I will have stalls with weight loss and I just like to see where everyone was at. I see different ranges where some people lose 120 in 6 months and some that lose 40 in 6months. Which I know for myself I will push my self to really hard to limits where I know I will make goals for each month on working out and how much I want to lose each month.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
