End of 2nd Day Post-Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Well, I made it through. These past few days have been rough, but manageable. To be honest with you, I was completely out of it yesterday. However, I made myself get up as much as possible to walk the halls. This morning was the roughest for me, and think it has to do with the oral pain medication. I have twice; the first was from drinking too fast (it may have been my first foamie?), but the second was definitely related to the medicine. I'm pushing to get as much liquid in as possible, but like so many people have said before, it is tough. I guess I kinda took it for granted. Anyway, the point of all this is to say I made it through two days, and I'm starting to feel a tad bit better. I've got a long way to go, but at least I've finally begun the journey!

Congrats on your surgery!! Im jst 3 weeks out myself. The first week is tough, but honestly everyday is a little better then the day before. It took my at least 5 days to be able to actually drink 16-24 oz of Water. It was painful to swallow. By the second week, it was not bad at all and found I could get in 64 oz. the key s to just take small sips, and try not to get to much air when you swallow! That was and still is my biggest issue! I never realized that when I drink I gulp!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
