I am at month 3 of the 6 month waiting period for my insurance. I am so nervous about having the procedure. I am struggling to lose pre-op weight and that is bringing up alot of old messages of failure in my head. Has anyone else felt this way?

I'm 5 weeks out of surgery. I can tell you that the anxiety before hand is probably the second worse thing about this whole thing. The first worst is Clear Liquids - pre op post op - it sucks. However - all of those things are temporary.

Keep in mind that you are choosing to do this and that is your must successful decision ever!

You've just started on this road and you have the rest of your life to go..don't beat yourself up over the bad days (ESP pre op). I think the bad days keep you in check for why you are doing this in the first place. Stay strong - you've for this!

Sure, I felt that way. I started reading everything I could get my hands on about sleeve surgery. There are lots of books on Amazon written by other sleevers. By the time of my surgery, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into.

Best decision I ever made. Nearly 3 months out, 47 lbs lost, co-morbidities resolved, and I feel fabulous!

Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing!

I think we all feel this way to some extent. I am 2 weeks from my surgery date and I'm a total wreck. I will tell you that the thing that has helped me the most is this board. I check it in the morning, once during the day, and again at night. The people on here are just like us - all of us are going through this together and we are all having the same doubts, fears, frustrations. I am especially encouraged by posts like the one you got in response. There are two people who just told (us) how happy they are with their decision. Hang in there girlfriend. It's all going to work out!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
