Help i have stopped losing weight

Recommended Posts

Next week will be 3 months since my vst. The first month I lost 25 pounds. The second month I lost 10. This month I have gained 2. What is going on? Is it over for me? Have I seriously screwed up? I eat no fat cottage cheese with a piece of fresh fruit every morning to get in 30 grams of Protein. O follow up with tuna or salmon or some times a burger of I am away from home. If I want sweets I eat a no sugar added fudge bar The only thing I ca think of is I may be eating too many nuts. Help please I am so discouraged. I started at 225 and am only down to 190. I didn't think the weight loss was supposed to slow down until after 6 months. And I am still drinking my Water and crystal lite lemonade.

I have also slowed down. I think it is just out bodies catching up. I was frustrated at first, but I have convinced myself it is better to be slower in weight loss so my skin has a chance to retract and not be so saggy!

Don't give up!

I have not had the surgery yet but from what I understand from reading on this board is people go through periods of stalls then it starts back up again. I have seen some people have stalls at 3 weeks. But I also did read that someone said they were eating too many nuts and once they cut that out they started losing again....:)

I'm in the same boat :-( its 6 weeks out lost 27lbs but have gained 2 urrrggggg! Its frustrating! I measure my waist, thigh, breast, belly and nothing has changed. I eat 60-90g of Protein and try to stay below 30g of Carbs drink my Water 64oz but nothing happens!!! I've heard if the 3 week stall but not to be stalled for 3 weeks. I know its a process but still gets frustrating not to see results. Can ya'll tell me what your eating if you are 6 weeks postop ? I'm eating soft foods like fish tuna and soft water crackers Protein Shakes

At 6 weeks I was eating anything I wanted. However, I have stayed away from the bad carbs. You will continue to lose weight it's just a stall. It might seem easy to say this but I know it messes with your head. Just hang in there and try increasing your exercise that is what my doctor told me to do when this hit. For the last 4 days I have stayed the same and I guess I need to listen to my own advice! Good luck to you and hold the faith!! :)

It's a stall. You will be fine. Just be patient. I know easier said then done, but stressing over it won't help either. :)

I was in a stall and increase my calories by 200 a day and since lost 5 pounds in a weekend! I know it doesn't make sense but it works.

You increased 200 calories from what amount?

I started off eating 370 then 480 then 600 and now 742-800 on days I walk 2 miles

My surgeon told me I should be eating 1000cal which I can't do :-(

I am 13 weeks out and have never stalled. I have been consistently losing about 4 pounds a week. Down 67 pounds in 13 weeks. I'm following gastric sleeve nutritional guidelines. I believe the most important thing for me is that I have been doing cardio workout 5 times a week on an elliptical, starting 2 weeks after being sleeved. 35 minutes of hard physical workouts and burning over 525 calories each session.

Exercise only accounts for so much. A majority of weight loss comes from quality and quantity of food.

I have MS so strenuous exercise is not a possibility for me. But I still lose at a decent rate. Also on average men tend to lose weight faster then women.

To the op, you are still new at this. Your body just went through major major surgery and then you lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time. Your body is probably taking a little bit of time to readjust. Also are you tracking your measurements? When you don't lose lbs you might be losing inches.

Do you have a preop pic? Take a pic today and compare the two. I'm sure you will see some difference. Are you eating a lot of salty foods? Maybe sodium is too high and you are retaining some Water.< /p>

Gals have hormone fluctuations that can cause gains on the scale, too. I can expect +4 every cycle.

We all lose at a different pace. The idea that loss slows after six month is due to the idea that many have lost about half their weight to goal by then, but it's not something you can count on. I had one big loss month (the first) and from that point onward got slower and slower each month. By the third month I was losing less than 10 pounds a month and I only lost 4 in my fifth month. From that point onward, I did a song and dance for anything more than 1 pound a week because it was hard to log even 1 after that point.

There's no need to panic. All you really need to do is what you've already been doing. Give your body time to adjust. Be sure to track your intake. It's not something I enjoy doing but it's important to know what you're eating and where you could make improvements.

Its normal to slow down after the second month. My doc said the first two mths you loose fast and what ever amount u loose the first two mths you will loose the next 4 mths. Then u start slowing down. That's why you should do as told the first 6 mths. Its hard. But we can do it.

I was so frustrated at first with counting and portions. My nut said stop that don't count. Just eat protien. And drink one shake a day. And it helped a lot. I loose 1-3 lbs a week. I'm 3 mths and I'm down 60lbs.

So don't worry we r all diffrent. You have not stoped loosing.

I'm 9 weeks out, have lost 32 lbs since surgery. No weight lost during the 4th, 5th and 6th week. But week 7 i lost 3.2 lbs and then 4.4 lbs last week. I was in the same boat, upset about the weeks with no loss, but just kept going. You just have to be patient if you're doing the right things.

It's easier typed than done, but you can do it!!

How do you get 30 GM of Protein with the cottage cheese and fruit? Do you add Protein Powder or is there a particular brand? I eat the breakstone farms, but it's only 12gn for 1/2 cup.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
