When did you receive your date?

Recommended Posts

I am still a newbie ad waiting for my consult date. When did you receive your surgery date ? At nutrition? Psych? It looks like I will have my psych and nutrition app on the same day . How long does the psych take?

I guess it depends on a number of things. Insurance requirements: I had 6 months of PCP supervised Weight Loss appointments. Once I finished all of my requirements: PCP visits, psych appts (1 for testing, 1 for clearance and 1 more within 3 mo of surgery) Nutritionist, exercise physiologist, EKG, Upper GI, sleep study x 2. It was submitted to my insurance, they generally don't schedule (through my clinic) until you are approved through insurance, but I had a special circumstance so they "penciled" me into a date I needed. So From my first appt until I knew my surgery date was around 6.5 months.

During my initial eval with the surgeon last July, she asked me when did I want to have the surgery. I said Oct or Nov. so we scheduled other visits immediately. Got surgery date in mid Oct & had surgery Nov 7.

I got mine on the day I met the surgeon. I do not have a 6 month diet requirement so I was scheduled 8 wks out. My dr is on vaca for first part of Sept

If I was self pay I imagine it would take maybe two months to be scheduled. I have had to do an upper GI test, two visits with a nutritionist and a psychological visit. I also will meet with my surgeon twice prior to surgery. My first consult visit answered a lot of questions. I have insurance paying for my WLS. So after my first consult I met with my insurance rep who walked me through all my pre-surgery requirements and set up all my doctors appointments. The hospital I am having surgery through has made things really easy.

I started all my appointments in May, did my class In June, Finished all classes and test by July 26th and already have my date. Its a pretty quick process and I think the psych consult was the worst. 1ST was going over your past from child to present, 2nd I took a 500 question test, and 3rd was going over my results. I was offered a late August date but it conflicted with other stuff going on so I am scheduled Sept 16

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
