Hello all,

I was told by my doctor that my story is UNIQUE!!!!! So I wanted to share with you all.....I don't intend to scare anyone as all surgeries are different for everyone!!! My intial surgery for the gastric sleeve went great!!........Until my stomach took a slight left turn, I was doing everything I was supposed to before and after surgery and didnt even cheat my diet!! I was in my room not for too long after surgery, I started vomitiiing up bile really bad.......then it got worse, it went on for a few days....I stayed longer than the intial 3 days for surgery. My vomiting wouldn't stop, I had pink buckets after buckets and nurses in and out my room duming them, the smell got awful as days went on....finally my mom came to visit for a second time and notice the smell got worse and it smelled like someone had a bowel movement and never flushed the toilet.....well that wasnt the case it was me throwing up my bowels now..!!! technically that's a sign of deaf....so I got scared...!!! the nurses got worried and called the surgeon a.s.a.p and my surgeon came to see me said he would get test and things done on me so we can see whats going on... Come to find out I had a bowel blockage that needed to be fixed pronto!!! My surgeon was great he got everything moving fast after being stuck in my room for a few days and then having a tub down my throat for 3 days finally they give me a second surgery!!! this was his partner who had free hands in the morning to do my surgery for my original doctor since his hands were full until after 8pm, so this doctor did it for me in the am and he did well...I love my surgeon and his team if it were not for them I dunno how I would have ended up... Great news he removed most of my intestines I had alot of scar tissue but this was not from the gastric sleeve, it was from a previous surgery I had before.....So I ended up with a two week stay but Im home now doing GREAT!!! I hope this does not change anyones mind, do what you feel is good for you please dont let my story discourage you!!! by the way my intial surgery was on my birthday July 8th 2013, yeah I think I was very brave!!! and my story is still UNIQUE!!! doctors said they "never seen anything like it"!!!!

Wow. How scary that must have been for you. I'm glad you're recovering at home now.

How will removing so much intestines affect your postop recovery?

Bowel obstruction due to adhesions with intestinal ischemia? Colon resection? No nasogastric tube to decompress the bile? Not cool. Glad u r ok!

thank you guys!!!! yea itwas bowel obstruction not sure the whole term and exactly what they did but I know he wasn't afraid to remove what he had to so that i would be ok....I'm glad they did the test to find out what they did...yes it was very scary i wish it on no one....I got discouraged a few times but I just prayed harder and harder each day!!! yes we are not suppose to have nsg tube after surgery but they made a exception because it was really bad...i was angry they did it but it saved me from hurting myself even more......thank you for reading my story I appreciate it!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
