questions about digestion

Recommended Posts

One of the reasons I chose the sleeve is because it appeared that the digestive process stayed intact.

I have been wondering the following ...

If you drink Water with food (I know it's not recommended), or eat sliders, and food gets to you intestines before your gastric juices start breaking down the food ... does that change the digestion or absorption of that food?

Does anyone follow research on topics like this? Where do you get your info?

I know that drinking liquid triggers the pyloric valve to open so your stomach empties sooner and thus you can eat more or more frequently. I know that is one reason for the recommendation... Dr Alvarez addresses it in his book and i imagine online. As for the rest I haven't clue but am interested to hear from those who do!

Good questions, I hope one of the Vets answers. I can't imagine drinking with food though because I'm full so fast, Water would make me vomit. Granted I'm only 7 weeks out.

But my friend who has the sleeve (about 5 months out) said she still can't drink with her food. There is simply no room.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
