I'm 5 days post op having trouble today just ate some sugar free Jello and laid down. Started feeling nauseous so I took an anti nauseas pill but I didn't take it soon enough. Sat up in my chair thinking elevation would help but I just violently dry heaved for about 3 mins. What are the chances I just hurt my sleeve?

Hello, sorry to hear your having trouble I'm 5 days out as well, for 2 nights straight I was having terrible gas pain but didn't know at the time it was gas. I tried the antacid pills they don't work. I called my Doc and asked him b/c I was scarred he recommended as much walking as I could, I also discovered that my sugar free popsicles actually helped out some ... Hope you feel better soon Best wishes

I am 2 weeks post op, the only thing that really helped when that feeling came on was to walk, remember to eat very slowly and you should be fine!

Well unless you experience sharp alarming pains, fever, basically anything extremely severe you are okay. Be sure to keep in contact with your doctor incase you are still unsure, for the most part leaks are common within the first 3 months due to over eating so take it slow in the future and perhaps mush anything you're eating into a thinner consistency.

I dry heaved for 14 hours straight after my sleeve! The nurses had their hands full with me! LOL! I was worried I would rip my staples right out, but the nurses weren't concerned. After three days, I had my x-ray and everything was just fine. No leaks. Good luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
