Too Many Fills/Too Soon

Recommended Posts

I have had two fills since I had my surgery on October 12th - I have a 4 cc band and right now there is 1.8 cc in the band (almost half of its capacity). Last night i went to Outback with some friends and had a center cut filet, sweet potato, and ceasar salad and some of the brown bread. Is it possible that i could have stretched out my band, or is it time for another fill this soon??

If you can eat that volume of food at one setting with no discomfort, it's time for a fill. There is no such thing as a "normal" schedule for fills. I have the VG 11 cc band and JUST got restriction from the fill I had on 1/4 (hoping it lasts). Some people achieve restriction from one fill whereas others need several before the band is "working" with us.

Wow! That is a LOT of food. I'd say you need another fill ASAP.

Edited to add...

Just for the sake of comparison, I can eat 4-5 oz of prime rib and NOTHING else at one sitting.

Hey! I had my surgery on 10/12 too!! My first fill was about 6 weeks ago and it was 2cc in a 4cc band. He said my stomach is small (of course, my stomach is small...BUT nothing else) and it may take more than others. I will be getting another fill again on Monday. I anticipate probably .5cc, I get restriction on dry food like DRY DRY meat and bread. Other than that I could eat a horse....right now the band is not helping to limit my intake (by sending those full signals) so I'm assuming it's still pretty open.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
