2 weeks out and in pain

Recommended Posts

My husband was sleeved 2 weeks ago. I was done before him and had no issues at all. He says everytime he takes a sip of Water or anything it hurts and he gets very nauseous. He is only getting about 150-200 calories a day. Has anyone else experienced that and if so please tell me it passes. He's just so tired of having an upset stomach.

Is he actually throwing up or keeping it down? If he has dry mouth, dizzy, disoriented, or having muscle spasms then he is dehydrated and may need some extra fluids. If this keeps up you might want to call the doctor to see if he needs some fluids or to be checked. Be proactive so he doesn't end up in the hospital. Make sure he is some G2 for the electrolytes. Best wishes and I hope he feels better real soon! :)

My Dr said to drink Gatorade if you are feeling nauseous. I'm almost 3 weeks out. I did drink Gatorade more at first, but I'm not drinking so much now. I think it might really help your hubby. Ditto what Beach Lover said!

He went for his 2 week check up today. Doc was concerned that he wasn't drinking as much as he should, but didn't really seem interested in the upset stomach. That's for the info on the Gatorade, he will get some tomorrow! Love this blog, everyone is so helpful.

You can mix the G2 with 1/2 and 1/2 Water....it does not need to be at full strength to work. I like it this way...in that way you get Water and hydrated again.....

You know as well as I do that the first few weeks are rough..But it does pass and you begin to feel better and better...Remind him that it will be better soon.....

Try some Protein drinks as well..He could probably handle Ensure as it has the calories he is lacking.....

Sip, sip and keep sipping..... :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
