Post-Op Wet Dreams...

I made something the other night that really hit the spot: watermelon, ice and half a lime squeezed into a blender and buzzed. It was sooo refreshing and not carbonated. I made sure there were no seeds in the watermelon chunks first. You might like it :)

That sounds great! I fear that I would be tempted to add a squeeze of lime and a few shots of tequila for my favorite watermelon margarita. Hmmm....

i was told no carbonation. but who knows? one of the million times i was trying to wean my H off of his coke addiction, we got bottles of flavored Syrup, and made italian sodas. they do come sugar free, though i dont do artifical sweeteners. you can order syrups at www.monin.com . it didnt break my H's addiction, but i loved it and far less sugar than soda pop.

when i was in the hospital, i dreamed of food. not since then though.

I gave up carbonation and caffeine cold turkey

Coke is bad. It's like drinking battery acid. More a nightmare than a dream. I tried some about 4 months out, and ran around the room yelling OW OW OW sh*# sh*# sh*#! Don't want to go near it ever again.

I drink coke and other soda sometimes. Im 3 1/2 months out. It's actually soothing to me and helps me burp. I also found a low calorie way of having some fizz. I tried flavored seltzer Water and crystal light. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
