Food seems to be going down too easy..

Recommended Posts

10 days out and food/liquid seems to be going down too easy. I never eat more then the serving I'm supposed to.. But what I can eat goes down with ease. I get well over 80oz of Water in daily. Im on a puree diet and I can eat a whole egg within 20 min, and 4 oz of yogurt or cottage cheese without an issue. Those are the servings I'm recommended, but I see people on here that can barely eat a few bites. I also just had 4 oz of puréed chili with a bit of sour cream and ate it in 15 min.

I sometimes feel like I haven't been sleeved! I'm going for my post op checkup tomorrow, so I'll ask him, but was wondering if I was the only one.

Edit** I don't eat a whole egg and yogurt at the same time.. I eat one or the other.

It seems to vary widely so I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe you have less internal postop swelling than some of us like me. Just keep to the portion sizes because otherwise it could cause problems with the staples pulling.

I thought the same thing at a couple of weeks post-op and posted here--over time, I've seen a pattern in many people posting wondering why they don't have enough restriction. Everyone said--wait until you are on solids, you'll definitely feel the restriction, especially with dense Protein. They were absolutely correct. That is what happens. Remember that you are still healing so your nerve endings may not send the needed signals yet. So as someone else said, be sure to measure. You should be fine with the 4 oz of chili but I wouldn't go over that. Things like yogurt will always slide down pretty easily but later when you are on dense protein and fibrous veggies, you'll definitely know that you had surgery. Be grateful that you can get in your water--I'm sure that you are. I was always happy that I didn't have issues getting in Water or Protein Shakes early on. I feel awful for people who do (sometimes I wonder if it's GERD and their throats tightening that is the issue if they aren't on a PPI).

Thanks. I definitely measure everything. And I've lost 17.5lbs since surgery, so the sleeve must be working! Lol

I'm jealous you can drink 80 oz of Water a day.

I keep trying to drink water and it just feels like a brick.

I can drink skim milk, decaf/protein cocoa or hot chicken broth but water which I loved pre-sleeve is a struggle.

Well, it's not plain water, it's diluted crystal light.

I've tried that too :(

Hoping one day I can drink it again.

My magic potion for drinking all my fluids is V8 fusion light mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with water! Regular Water gives me heartburn!

I was able as well. The Dr reassure me that everyone is different and to be happy that I don't have issues. You will feel the restriction soon. I too was worried at first.

Did restriction come once you were on solids?

Hi Jessicann

I pushed myself today, because like you I have been getting my Water in and Protein Shakes as well. Today I had a boiled egg and thought I could wash it down with a sip of water.... Wow big mistake part of the egg and water came back up :-( so moral of the story is don't push it just eat your portions and lets be thankful we haven't had problems like I've read people have. :-)

Good luck

I felt like this for the first few weeks. I am almost 8 weeks out now and I just recently started to notice that I can't eat very much at all before I feel full. I do very little snacking. I stick to 3 meals and can eat about 4oz at a time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
