I am going to Mexico (another insurance denial) for my surgery in 2 weeks:clap2: I am excited and nervous but have been reading a lot of the information here and am ready to go for it. Any one else being (or been) banded by Dr. Kuri?

Hi Kath,

I am from South Dakota and will be banded by Dr Kuri on Jan. 19th. We will have to compare notes!!

I too am getting banded soon...January 25th!!!! I can't believe all this has happened so fast! As for Dr. Kuri, I know someone who was banded by him. She said he was a very warm, kind man. She had no complaints about his work, and her Doc up here in Washington said the placement of the band was fantastic. Hope that helps. Good Luck!!!!

Congrats on your upcoming surgery! I just got back from being banded

by Dr Kuri last Friday (Jan 19th). All the people there are just awesome!

Dr Kuri is really kind, I can't say enough for the care and the people.

One thing I wish I had had with me was my English/Spanish dictionary.

Most of the nurses at the hospital have VERY limited English, and being

able to look up a word in English to show them in Spanish would have

helped a lot.

Good luck! I got brave and stepped on the scale this morning, and have

already lost 4 lbs. YEAH! I'm on my way!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
