How was your 5:2 day today?

My biggest dilemma is that I have to take medicine in the morning. I don't want to eat until around 11 am because I like to have a late night snack of 100 calorie pack of cocoa dusted almonds. I've been putting off taking my medicine but the one I can't put off is an anti biotic.

I guess I can share this ,lol. I have to take an antibiotic before have sex or I will get a UTI.I have to take it with food.

I guess half of a Greek Yogurt would be 50 calories. I need to look up string cheese and baby bell light.

How about you? Is the 5:2 plan working with your life? I also don't like working out with my trainer on an empty stomach.

Will this not work if you have 11 hours in between instead of 12? There must be some reason you have to have 12 hours off.

Thanks Cowgirl, it is Niebles actually. I remember hearing about that person that was kicked off and I seem to remember that she wasn't actually a real coordinator, just an obsessive fan who tried to

So cool Georgia! You are def living the good life right now! Have fun girl!

Coops! Its so nice to know you have such a perfect mate! ...and hitting that new number is pretty sweet too!

I have entered the Twilight Zone or something... up another pound, that makes over 4! I think its stress... my eating is in pretty good shape, I did miss a fast day on Halloween...and went over just a smidge... darned dumdums! But I bought candy I don't personally like that much, and even though I live in the "hood" I had over 20 kids come to the door looking for goodies.. so cute! So, the candy was almost all carted away in kids bags. I bought little suckers (dum-dum lolliepops) that were pretty low in cals... don't want to give all the neighbor kids diabetes!!

I do feel chemically off... a little depressed, and some anxiety too... My labs came back with signs of increased cortisol, and my cholesterol is up again after a nice low reading a few months after surgery :( ....my blood sugar markers were at the top of the normal range... will have to watch that too....theres a few things I can do with diet... but not that much left to change there! My triglycerides are nice and low...thats good and my HDL is up so that is good too... no more egg drop soup for me!

Hang in, FYE. SOME things we have to so the best we can and still our lovely genetics take over. You have been very diligent in habits, research and follow through. It will pay off. And those four pounds are probably mostly as you say, stress/chemically related and will resolve theirselves over the next few days.

Coops, yay, yay, yay!!

Yep feed,

Stress will make me hang onto weight or gain!

It sounds like those labs would some extra stress on too. Wow I didn't even know they tested for cortisol! I'd be very interested in my numbers...

Georgia, have fun! And 5+ miles shopping??

Wow!

Coops,

Keeping my fingers crossed for a new low :)

Georgia, sounds like you are having a great time! Enjoy the weekend.

Daisy, have fun at your daughter's baby shower. I can't wait to hear the reaction from the guy when he hears you used to be obese. I can't stand it when I am around people who talk bad about overweight people. It is so uncomfortable.

Fye, sorry about the struggles with the blood work. That has to be frustrating when you are doing everything you can to be healthy. Hang in there.

Coops, I am sure that loss will stick! You will get there. Congrats on being married 20 years!

Today I am just not feeling it...I feel off for some reason. I slept in today (which was nice since I usually get up between 5 and 5:30) but I think the sleeping in made me hungry and I got up and ate a couple cookies. Yuck! If I stray off my usual protein drink for breakfast it seems to throw me off for the whole day. I'm going to get back on track and not ruin my whole weekend. I can do this, I will do this...

Happy Saturday Ladies! :)

Oh and feed? Do you think the time of year has anything to do with it?

I mean it's the season to be jolly.. But as the cold sets in my mood becomes a little down too.

It's much easier for me to slip into a depression.

Sarsar!

I didn't see your post! We must of been posting at the same time :)

Yes feeling off! My sleep patterns are very off..

The weather is changing and the lure of baked goods are calling..

Laura, the test I took that may indicate higher cortisol is the:

EOSINOPHILS ABS 0.1-0.3 K/MM3 0.05 L

A lower-than-normal eosinophil count may be due to:

  • Alcohol intoxication (not! in this case)
  • Over production of certain steroids in the body (such as cortisol)

so really, I am only guessing here... will find out more next month some time....

My day ended up better than it started. Food wasn't too bad after the cookies this morning, I gained control of things. Tomorrow we are supposed to spend the day with the in-laws and this brings on major stress but I will survive.:)

Laura, yes the winter usually brings on a bit of depression for me. I don't look forward to it.

I read in another thread that you were crying today, are you ok? Just wanted to check on you and make sure you're alright. :D

It's pretty common for people in Oregon to have seasonal affective disorder. I have a light I am supposed to sit under, but I never do. I really need to move it to a more convenient spot since I am getting really depressed too.

It seems like I am getting too old for this but I have the thought of living the rest of my life alone. I talked to Allen today to ask him when he was going to come and get his stuff, and I have been depressed ever since.

I should be able to stay on track tomorrow. I didn't even try today with the baby shower food. I have a ton of left over food too. :(

Hello all,

I forgot that this thread is visible to everyone in VST ... oops, guess I'm out of the neurological closet now!

I have a lot of fear, anxiety, sadness. I'm mourning the loss of my life. Yes I am still here and I will do what I can but the me I thought I was, the future I thought was mine, down to the most mundane details, is gone. dead.

Getting thin now seems irrelevant, because on what date do you tell someone that you have an incurable degenerative disease that will slowly rob you of every single aspect of quality of life? At what point do you tell someone that you can't bear their children? I guess I'd better hurry up and get that doctorate, while I've got the cognitive ability, right?

How will I earn money when I can no longer string a sentence together? How will it feel to watch dancers when I can't walk? Will I lose my dignity, will someone care .... will I wake tomorrow, from this nightmare...?

I urge every single one of you to watch Dr Terry Wahl's TEDtalk on Youtube, it will answer a lot of questions you may have.

Well, there's no reason to live life by the rules now ... there will be no reward waiting for me, for living a neat and check-marked life. No golden years of feisty cronehood, what's the point in working jobs and buidling up time at companies etc., do I even have a good 10 years left to accrue some kind of retirement? And insurance ...

how do I pay for insurance, for the long term care insurance I will need about 40 years sooner than my friends?

When I found out, my first thought was, I would rather have cancer, and honestly, I would. Because with cancer, you either win or you lose, you have an option a choice, hope. There is no recognized cure for MS, just a slow loss of everything that made you You. For a cerebral dancer, there is truly no crueler fate.

As for food, 5:2, etc...

You already know what I eat, now you know why. I need grass fed organ meats, cruciferous veggies, sulfurous veggies, seaweed, omega3s, vitamin D and B, pre and probiotics and sleep. They say stress brings on an exacerbation but believe it or not, I would be more stressed if I were in the States. Here I have a team, a support network, healthcare, free meds, a roof over my head ...

Tradition has it that Lapis Lazuli, the sacred blue stone, is the stone of healing. Afghanistan is the source for Lapis in the world, always has been. I'm covering myself in the stuff.

GT, what you wrote, OMG...wow, I just don't have any words of comfort. :( You really have a way with words and are a gifted writer. Have you ever thought of having a blog or writing a book? I realize everyone can "read" here but it doesn't stop me from feeling like I'm having coffee with my good girlfriends every morning. :)

I've been pretty much off in lala land this week in regards to eating...really need to wrap my head around getting back in the zone. I can't say that I'm bummed or mad at myself though. Conscious choice and enjoyed not tracking every bite. It's also the first week since July 16th that I didn't even fast one day. So that was kind of a nice break, but definitely need to get back to it!

URGH!!!. I'm still here reading your posts nightly. I'm frustrated and giving in to the fact that I need excersise to start losing agin. This is what I've gone through for the past year. Start out strong focused and trying to lose.. I lose about 5 pounds..which takes months.. then gain it all back in one to two weeks. I"ve focused on lowering my daily intake down to 1200 calories.. Maybe lower?? I'm doing the two fast days.. those are really easy. I"ve cut out the snacks on fast days. and doing puzzles at night keeps the nightly non fast days snacking down to a minimum. Only thing missing is the excersise. So.. i'm heading to check out Curves.. and LA Fitness. I like the group classes.. Looking to get into at least three times a week. I saw pictures of myself at the anniversary party. I felt beautiful in my new dress, but when I saw the pictures.. mann our image of ourselves are so different then reality. I looked like a huge blob!.. I'll post pics as soon as I can get them on this computer.. URGH!! Stick with me ladies.. I'm not getting any help from home.. They all love the way I look.. but its me that counts and I'm not happy!! URGH!!
