Hey gang! It's the day after surgery.. How is everyone doing? I'm waiting for an upper GI screening to make sure everything is okay, then I can finally have broth or a Popsicle. Walked about 20 laps total around the unit floor yesterday, today 8 so far. Feeling okay, mi or pain, a little nausea and one huge gas bubble on my left side that won't go away.

I was sleeved yesterday. I'm doing really well getting enough fluids in and taking my walks. Was discharged this morning and got to take my first walk of the day out in the sunshine. I have that same darned gas bubble but the more I walk it does seen to be improving. I'm still really sore in the abdomen but nothing that I can't control with my pain meds. Glad you are doing so well too!

Had a bad turn of events on day 2. After they did the upper GI, I got extremely nauseated. I started throwing up and felt crappy all day. Ended up spending another night in the hospital. The good news is that today I was discharged and I'm home now and feeling much, much better! The nausea is gone, most of my gas pains are gone, and I've been able to keep a popsicle down (yesterday, I couldn't!) I feel like the worst is over.

I'm still in the hospital, should be released tomorrow. I don't feel like I'm getting enough Fluid in but they keep talking about what a great job I'm doing. I'm just ready to go home and sleep in my own bed. Haven't had gas pains since the first day but abdomen is still sore especially where the drain is.

My doctor has me on Clear Liquids for two days before I start on Protein Shakes. The main thing is to stay hydrated, so be sure to drink as much Water as you can. The nutritionist told me that the second and third day are the worst because your new tiny tummy is so swollen from the trauma that the inside is only about at big as a pencil. Obviously, that will take more time for stuff to flow thru. She suggested setting up 6 "shot" glasses and every 5 minutes, try to get one of those down and in an hour you will have gotten a significant amount of water down.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
