Just wanted to pop in and let you all know that life is good. Two years ago today I had my VSG by Dr Umbach in Las Vegas (Baby!). I got to my current weight 8 months post op. I am not posting any new pictures because the ones in food I can consume, which is what I was looking for all along.

It has been a tough road, for sure, but one I would travel again tomorrow. As a lot of people have voiced, my only regret is not doing it sooner.

My advice to others researching the sleeve or recently sleeved, is to right-size your expectations. Research the bejesus out of this. Understand the complications and the risks involved. Not everyone will lose 80% of their excess weight and that is OK. Some people are just looking to lose enough to get off of their medication regimen. Be careful of advice you seek from an internet forum ... can your medical team answer your question? If so, seek them first.

If you want to lose all of your excess weight, know that it is going to be a heck of a lot of work and will require you to make a fundamental change with your relationship with food. The first 6 months are tough, but you will make it through.

I don't come on here much, anymore, because, well ... meh ... not going to go into it.

Good luck and God bless.

I think I understand why after you're a couple years out that this forum would get old. I would like to think it's because you are so busy living your life.

We miss you around here!

I can't believe it's been two years for you already - congrats on reaching goal but even more so for managing to keep it off with your healthier lifestyle.

You're one of the few that actually looks younger now that you've lost weight, by the way. I think that the weight loss can make a lot of us that were heavy for a good while look older. I've heard many a lady lament that she swapped fat for wrinkles!

Congrats again, and it's a shame you're not around speaking reason to the newbies but I understand. I take breaks now and again, too!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
