Hi merry, how u feeling ? Where abouts on the central coast do u live ?

Hi clark02 I'm up the northern end at Lake Haven, feeling pretty good, finding I get really tired quickly and trying to learn what my tummy is now saying lol.

We are almost neighbours lol, I really liked Dr Caska, he was very reassuring and gave me all the time I needed to go through my questions during my appointment with him. How come you have to wait till next year?

Oh ok, I was lucky already in health fund and decided just to cover the gap so it all happened pretty quick for me. First appt with Paul on 10th Sept then surgery on 8 Oct. I had done a lot of reading and research beforehand (wish I had found this site) so felt it was right time for me. The surgery itself I have to say has been the easy part so far, but honestly I think if you are really ready for this change then you just take each day for what it is and know your one step closer to where you want to be. Feel free to ask questions along your journey I will be more than happy to share my experience.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
