Dr David Kim/Dr Bridget Holden

I was pleased with both. This was my first overnight surgery since I was about 5 or 6. I wasn't nervous going into surgery but I am now cause I don't want to damage anything. I did start my pureed foods tonight. The B-book says 4-7 days after surgery so I'm trying it, tired of all the sweet stuff. Overall I've been happy with my entire experience and can't wait to see how I look & feel week after week.

Sorry I was just in the hospital one night. And the shots were blood thinners, to help protect you against blood clots after surgery.

Wow. My experience was different. I was allowed mouth swabs. I did dry heave as well and felt like I would throw up but that was only the first night. When i had my leak test' date=' I did feel sick but i was fine. After, i was given Crystal Light to sip. I wasn't sent home with blood thinners nor did I get shots for my stomach. I also took GAS X with me to the hospital but walking is the only thing that will get rid of the gas. My only other issue was Constipation. I had to get Miralax because I was so uncomfortable.[/quote']

Did you use Dr Kim? I know myself & a coworker had the shots but two other coworkers had Dr nick & they did not have to have the shots.

Yes. I had Dr. Kim and Dr. Holden assisted. She fixed a hiatal hernia that I had. No blood thinners for me. Maybe every case is different.

I was sleeved 9 months ago by Dr. Holden. She also fixed a hiatal hernia and I have not had any acid issues since! Trophy Club was top notch! I was the first surgery and after my leak test the next morning I was dressed and ready to go and was discharged that afternoon so I spent one night. Dr. Kim's staff is top notch and when I go in for my checkups they answer all my questions and are supportive. I have lost 70 lbs and 5 sizes and have 10 more lbs to go. Best thing I have ever done!

Your results are very encouraging! ????

So far I am very pleased with the office staff. I still have 2 more classes until they submit everything to insurance. I am hoping it won't take long after that to be put on the schedule for the surgery.

At what point do they go over with you what you will be doing after surgery?

I am also a patient of Dr Kim. I went in for a band to sleeve revision on 6/10 but due to the amount of scar tissue he found he didn't sleeve me that day. Talk about a disappointing wake up. :( I am very grateful that he's a cautious surgeon though. I am back on the books for part 2 on 8/29.

The day before I went for my post op visit I got a letter from my insurance company (UHC) that effective 9/4 Dr Kim is not going to be in network anymore. That freaked me out. They are getting me in before the cutoff thankfully.

I did have my surgery at Baylor TC and they were wonderful. There are only about 20 rooms there and I felt like I got a lot of personal attention. I was up and waking as soon as I could because I remember the gas pain I had with the band and never want to do that again! They kept me for 2 nights and I left there feeling pretty good.

Hoping for the same results in August!!

Happy to hear that you were pleased with Baylor Trophy Club and that you get personalized care there.

Did Dr Kim suggest you wait 2 months to have the surgery or was that as soon as they could get you back on the books? Just wondering how far out you have to book your surgery once you get the approval from insurance.

As soon as they got my approval letter from Aetna they called me & I was scheduled. They called me June 3rd and I just had my sleeve done on July 2nd.

I don't remember exactly how long it was from approval to being on the schedule, I think it was about 2 months.

Oh and yes, he did want me to wait a bit so I could heal before we do the sleeve. He said 6-8 weeks from the band removal and 8/29 was the first available date. And since he's leaving the UHC network it's also the last day he will be doing surgeries at Baylor TC.

Hmmm, so he is leaving Baylor TC all together or only for those with UHC?? I have Aetna and was told my surgery would be at Baylor TC. I'm also under the impression that Dr Holden will be performing mine so maybe it's different with her.

What exactly does the Bariatric University classes consist of?? Is it different from the BEND classes that insurance requires?? I will be attending my 2nd of 3 BEND class later this month.

The last class they have you sample the Protein Shakes, make you buy one of theirs, give you the B-book & tell you basically how everything will go from the time you get there until you leave. I didn't get too much out of it but its all helpful & so is the book.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
