Kat ~ Prayers and Hugs ~ I am so sorry.

Yep the snow from the North started an hour ago and is moving South as planned. I hear Denver is getting more than we our right now, So you be very careful.. I wish we could me up under different circumstances ~ take care and go slow. when we did out trips back when I would take some yogurt in the cooler or snack bars in the glove compartment.

Cindy that is beautiful about the quilt. I always wished I had one to cherish the memories of the person or persons that made it. My little one Cristian has one that a freind made for him and I tell you that puppy has been used quite alot. I love it! But it is not my size..

Sherry I did try the Eclair - my friend made it for a pot luck and boy oh boy was that good. She said it was really easy to make. I dare not go there cause I could eat the whole thing by myself.

Dianne - I am happy you are taking some down time for yourself. You do not want to overdue it. How is MIL & FIL doing? and of course your hubby..

Irene / Shame on you for starting that food Porn.. I am going to risk it and jump in front of Kat and save her from the choc cake:hungry: . You know what are freinds for .. Right!!

Betty - Did you all do the Tamales yourself? I wish I could make them. I remember how but to sit there and slather each one perfect is something I could never do, but I do love to eat them. Actually I just love the outside the masa not the meat part.. how weird huh?

Darcy - How is the dreadmil? With my luck I would have flipped right over the front and then where would I be??

Eileeneee - please repost the the egg muffin - I cannot find it.. Is it under the food post? Will have to venture out now that I am curious.

Annie - How does it feel to be back??

Mandy ~ how are you doing chica?? Are you getting around?

Chrispy - How is the new place working out?

Well I am on 2 hours sleep I think maybe less. Cristian is sick again. :sick Yesterday when I picked him up he was running a fever. I doctored him and it would go down then come up again. Last night I would get him up to soak his feet and then it would come down but shot right up again. He cried this morning to go to school, so he went. I will call his aunt here in a minute and see how he is doing. Other than that not much is going on. I finally got my

W-2 and if I did it correct I will be getting some back to at least get another car. Wish me luck!!

Well better get back to work.. Take care - I am sure I missed alot.. but you know my memory goes more each day...

Hey All

Hump Day is halfway over... Thank goodness!

Another glorious day in mtg lending.... At least today, I have something to do. One of my multitude of bosses requested my assistance in a training document - so in my spare moments, I am working on that.

It was snowing big fat flakes as I passed thru Plano on my way to work this morning - but they weren't sticking. Not quite cold enough for that - another thing to be thankful for. Texans just don't deal well with snow.

I went to the gym again last night - and I clocked my mileage (finally) for 30 minutes on the elliptical and the bike. I did over 2 miles in 30 minutes. :) So, I guess for my 7 days at the gym so far this month - I get to add 14 miles to our total.

That's all the news for me. Pretty exciting stuff, no? :)

Dianne - thanks for adding to the food porn. I so hate to be the only bad one... :) I guess I am going to have to try the GoLean Crunch. I have been hearing about it for ages - and I do so love crunchy sweet things.

Darcy - Hugs - you cake fiend, you.

Betty - Don't go chasing after Dianne to slap her, now... you might slip on the ice. :omg:

Sherry - Don't go spoiling the food porn by using sugar free pudding... Sheesh! :heh:

Cindy - I am thinking stiching some of the shorter things on the hearts in embroidery floss might be ultra cool. The colors would add to the decoration of the quilt. Oh - and I promise not to talk about creamed herring again - at least for a bit. It isn't one of those foods you eat every day, anyway. :biggrin1:

Kat - You are risking the weather to take your sabotaging MIL to Denver? Wow. You are much nicer than I am... :nervous Of course, I would probably do it too - love those family obligations. Be strong on the cake issue. Just say "No". :guess I am thinking warm comforting thoughts for your friend and her family. That is pretty freaky about all your brothers. Hugs!

Mary - I hope Christian is feeling better soon. sleep? Who needs Sleep?? Hugs! I wish I thought I might ever get a tax refund again... but my company does odd things with our bonus checks, so I have to pay every stinking year. ICK!

Well - while I get a gold star for going to the gym last night - I sabotaged my efforts by coming home and eating half a bag of corn chips. Then I made the mistake of stepping on the scale this morning. Uh huh. Not pretty. I think I am going to just have to tell myself to eat whatever I want and not worry about anything. Cause it seems like every time I try to tell myself to be good, I go nuts. I am such a Contrary!

Oh well. Today, I don't seem to care. The office had pizza for lunch. I am in the middle of my second slice. *sigh*

I guess it's 40 minutes on the elliptical, tonight!

Love you guys!

Kat... I am so sorry about your friends brother...sending many a prayer.

Mary... Sorry about the lack o sleep... I used to have HORRIBLE sleep deprivation but quitting smoking bossted me up to a 6 hour night. :) I used to wake up gasping for breath... talk about adrenaline rushes!

Cindy... hehehehe.... isn't that funny... I would stand up and be like... Ow Ow Ow... crud... forgot to breath again...lol.

Irene... 40 minutes?????????????????? Okay... that would be a death sentence for me... you rock... not to be confused with you are the Rock... cause he is pretty hot. :)

Dianne... I tried that Cereal and thought it was pretty good too... but for some reason eating it made me hungry... *shrug* I'm a weirdo.

Sherry... WHEW... thanks for taking that provocative image of CAKE out of my mind! Now don't listen to Beanie... Miss creamed herring ruined the Cake porn first...lol.

Betty... Think creamed herring cake with yummy SF pudding slathered all over it. Effective Cake Porn destruction???? I think ...Yes...lol.

Eileen...Boo!

Okay... must go log my mile and a half for today... going to do some more later. :) Oh... reading "You on a Diet"... it's a great read... funny... common sense... lovin it.

Hey everyone! I've been trying to avoid this thread because of all this cake talk. hahaha! Just kidding!

For those of you who've asked - the new place is great! I'm settling in a bit more every day. Unfortunately my bronchitis is not getting any better. I saw the Doc again on Monday and was put on another 10 days of antibiotics and a steriod inhaler. I had a coughing fit so bad this morning that I either bruised or fractured a rib. I can't take a deep breath without immense pain and it feels like someone is stabbing me when I cough. I sure do know how to get sick, huh?! lol. Oh well, what can you do?! Besides, as we saw today with Kat's post, it can always be worse.

Well I think I'm off to bed early tonight. I'm going to take some nyquil (actually tylenol's brand) to see if that helps me sleep any better. Hugs to you all!

Evening, Folks.

Darcy - ok - it will probably be only 30 minutes on the elliptical with 10 minutes on the bike. I do have to bring my heart rate down from the stratosphere before I flop down on the couch for the evening. Oh, and yes - The Rock IS somewhat decorative. And much more tasty than any old cake. :)

Mary - I don't sleep as much as I should.... :] Oh I hope that was a balance due to YOU. I know you could certainly use the money! Can you claim head of household or any of that fun stuff? Taxes suck.

Chrispy!!! We have missed you!. I wish you felt better - but I am glad you are liking the new place. Just so long as you don't have any psychotic neighbors... :]

The latest news of the day is that they are sending me to NY on an earlier week. Now I am scheduled for the week of the 12th - 16th. Eileenie - check your calendar... :]

Well - gotta fly. If I don't get home, I won't make it to the gym. DH is trying to flake again. He said if I intended to go without him, he might be guilted into going with me. :]

Hugs and Love to All.

We are on the downhill slide toward the weekend, now~! Wa Hoo!

Kat, honey I'm so sorry about your friend. You'll all be in my thoughts. You be careful on the road and don't be afraid to cancel if it gets bad out.

Hi Darcy! I see we're both on at the same time. Came to taunt us with your evil cake? Well, DH brought home a humongous box of brownie mix from costco - and I already had one in the pantry. I could make brownies for 100.

Crispy - you poor thing!! I hope you feel better soon. (((LOOSE HUGS))) so I don't hurt your ribs. :rose:

Promise to catch up on personals with everyone later. Still haven't figured out if I can LBT at work since the lady who is training me sits with me all day. Since nobody there knows I have a band it would be a tad awkward, lol.

Hope you're all doing well and adding lots of miles to the exercise log! Hugs all around. :)

Hi all! I know I have been a non-presence here lately. My foot surgery took way more out of me than expected. I am still very swollen and sore. I had the stitches removed today, that was an experience. The doc did "plastic surgery" stitches and the scar is tiny, just a faint line, but the brusies are HUGE. I am still very black and blue, and the whole top of my foot is an odd green and let me tell you Kermit was right, it ain't easy being green. I am still on pain meds, today was day 12. I thought I would be up and running by now, but I am still hobbleing. I have been reading, and keeping good thoughts for you all, just haven't had much to say, I've been a bit down, but now am hoping to start recovering. I will check in again tomorrow. ~Mandy

Good Morning,

Well not much to say today.. Crisitan is still sick and puked this morning. Some might ask why am I working but I know that he is in good hands with his Aunt C. I actually did keep him from going to school today so that he can rest and get his strength back. If he is not better tonight, I will for sure stay home tomorrow with him - we will see. I have been giving him Motrin and childrens Musinex..

Other than that just ready to glide into the weekend and get some rest and clean the house. It is a disaster area since my baby boy has been sick.

Mandy - Take it easy sometimes recovery is slow and that is a good thing.

Irene ~ Yes I did do HOH, but I did do ok with Fed, it is the State I have to pay into. I adjusted my info for this year so that next year I won't freak out.

Oh well it could be worse.. I could be like my sis get that big bonus and then have to pay out on it.

Chrispy - Girl Bronchitis sucks. That usually takes awhile to get over. Hopefully this round will work for you. Are you also taking Musinex?

Well I better go find something to do.. BBL

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
