I am 12 days out down 18lbs. And want to know when I could use the elliptical, seems like a lot of bouncing and it would make me uncomfortable, but maybe not?

I don't see why not but maybe you should try it for a short time, 15 mins or so and see how you feel. If your incisions are healed you are probably OK but you might want to ask your Dr. Just to be sure.

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2

It is great you are feeling good enough to work out! Congratulations on your surgery and your great success so far!

I agree, definitely a question for your doctor. Mine didn't want me doing anything but walking for a month. Just remember, that even though your external stitches may be healed, you have internal sutures you don't want to mess with. You are still a bit numb/swollen on the inside and might not feel "pain" when it happens, give yourself a decent amount of time to heal.

Good luck!

Check with your surgeon first, but I don't see why a 5 minute attempt would harm you. Start with no resistance or incline and slowly and see how it feels. Up the time and other parameters if you feel comfortable.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
