Back to work?

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious when everyone went back to work after their lap-band surgery. I had surgury on Monday (26th) and was originally planning to return on Monday (Aug. 2nd). Is one week enough? Am I rushing things along too much? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

:)

Hi,

I had surgery on June 14th and penciled in returning to work on the 21st. When that Friday came around I realized I was not yet 100% and decided to take another week!

I was soooo glad I did, when I went back to work, I was more accustomed to my new eating habbits and could concentrate 100% of my mind to work!

I do not regret taking that extra week!

I could have gone back after 1 week, but I am glad I didn't!

Hope this helps!~

Hi Kiley,

Congratulations on your banding! I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back at work the following Monday. I have a desk job and was able to do it, but was pretty wiped out at the end of the day.

However, I'm glad I went back. If I'd had to lie around the house after I'd got my strength back, I'd just have been depressed that I couldn't eat. A liquid diet was much easier for me to live with when it was just a matter of drinking at my desk. Having to stay out of the kitchen all day long at home would have been very hard.

I am a housekeeper and I took one week off. It was still a little hard to bend over that second week but it did me good getting out and seeing friendly faces and moving around. I got bored lazing around the house. Teresa

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
