I am so excited about my banding!!!!

I just had to say that. I try not to think about it to much. Can anyone think of something that they could not do by themselves right after the surgery?? When could you pick up lets say a 10 pound poodle??

Rene'

PS Also how do you get the ticker to show up????

I had trouble getting up and down after the surgery and when I got home I realized I couldn't wipe or clean my coolie without hubbies help because I couldn't turn my body in any way that didn't hurt. That only lasted a day I think. Sorry for the overshare! Picking things up weren't a problem, it was just bending or moving. Good Luck!

Hi there phlyinphebee

I found it difficult getting in and out of bed! I also had a 6 week yr old daughter at the time and I could hold her ok and carry her but picking her up from the ground or anywhere that I had to bend was a struggle...my mom fortunately was there to help me with her.

Congratulations On Your Upcoming Surgery. Everyone Is Different But I Could Pick Up My 13lb Bichon-shih-tzu Mix The Day After Surgery. I Did Have A Problem With Him Trying To Jump On My Stomach When I Was Laying Down. Ouch! Good Luck!

I right-clicked on my ticker after I created it and copied and pasted it into my signature line.

I slept propped up on my sofa for the first few days after surgery. I didn't have much pain from the actual operation. The anesthesia made me hurt all over though, so that it felt like I couldn't pick up my arms or legs. I had a hard time getting up and sitting down on my couch. After about Day 4 or 5 post-op, I really improved. I'm at Day 13 now, and I'm moving really well.

I know I wasn't supposed to lift anything over 15 pounds or so after surgery. I'm going for my first post-op appointment on January 3rd, so I'll check with the doc then how long the ban on lifting lasts!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
