Honestly, who has had zero problems

Recommended Posts

great thread. I almost feel guilty for not having issues with this. Sleeved May 22, was walking around the hospital floor about 4 hrs later. Was bored and wanted to walk. They let me out the next day. Since then, no issues but head hunger. Solid foods in 3 weeks. Have had no issues with anything (steak, seafood, chicken, etc). Looking forward to having a manhattan soon or a full glass of wine, but don't want to push it too far. Might partake in cocktail hour in Lake Tahoe next month, but we'll see. I highly recommend it

4-1/2 years post-op and have developed a problem that requires revision surgery. The thread is entitled "Deja-Vu all over again". Have a look. Weigh in.

That being said' date=' VSG is amazing thing that will change your life. I would do it over again, even knowing I would need a revision in 4-1/2 years. BTW - my current condition is pretty rare - although not unheard of.[/quote']

Can't find the thread... I'm curious what the complication is.

Yes, I went in the hospital on a Thursday morning, the procedure took 40 minutes, I was awake before noon and walking around that afternoon. One night in the hospital, a leak check of the staple line, and home the next day. He used a 40 bougie.

I went back to work the following Tuesday and never looked back. No problems for 3-1/2 years. 90 total lbs lost which for me was good but about 20 lbs short of my goal weight.

The bulge discussed in the link above developed about a year ago. Why? Dunno. I wasn't doing anything different. I was told its rare, but it happens. So I'm going in for "maintenance" on July 25th to get it tightened up. This time with a 36 bougie.

Do NOT let my experience dissuade you from having this surgery. It's like a miracle.

Hi I was sleeved June 6th feel great no unusual problems. My tummy grumbles, not from pain or hunger I just believe its adjusting. However, I have noticed this week that I have been having heartburn, has anyone else dealt with that...if so, does it go away? I hope I don't go through Hair loss like most do....No regrets!!

Just curious, but with all the bad things on here, are there any of you out there who have had no problems of any kind? Zero, nada, zilch. I'm new to this and still ,I suppose tying to make sure I haven't made a mistake? What those who have been sleeved for several years?

I'm 3 months out, have lost about half of my total excess body weight, and have had no complications or issues. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Yes. It is very common. You really need to be on a ppi if you are not already on one.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
