I'm wondering how many of you track everything you put in your mouth and if so how much should I be tracking?. I'm still on a liquid diet and I just started adding soups.. I can barely sip about 2 oz of the Soup and I'm trying to get about 40 grams of Protein and at least 16 oz of Water a day.. Is that enough?

Some people track and some do not. I chose to track because I want to learn foods and their values. This will allow me to train myself correctly and when I am eating more later on I will be able to eat more food with knowledgeable variations and still stay within the caloric guidelines my doctor has given me. I think the more knowledge you have the stronger you will be. I am trying to rethink and change my eating habits so this is definitely the time to do it. :)

I have an excel spreadsheet on my computer. I track everything so I know I'm getting enough Fluid and Protein in.

My Fitness Pal is a great way to track food, Water and exercise. There are tons of people on this site using MFP and if you do a search, you will find a thread with user names who you can "friend". Good luck!

I used to use MFP but now I go to FitDay because I can see Vitamin levels broken down. It is easy to track things. Just get a a notebook and write 4 colums. 1- date, 2- time, 3- Water in oz, 4- Protein in grams

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
