sleep study question

Recommended Posts

Had my sleep study last night but didn't get hooked up to a CPAP during the night. Does this automatically mean I don't have sleep apnea? I don't go back for my follow up until July 9th and I am curious to know. Anyone who has had a sleep study please let me know if you were not hooked up to a CPAP but still have sleep apnea.

My sleep study was in 2 parts. 1st visit was to measure how many times I stopped breathing - I was covered in those little sensors.

2nd visit, I was covered in the sensors again and had to use the CPAP machine. That visit was to fit me for a mask and calibrate the machine.

You mean you had to spend the night two nights? or was the second visit during the day and you didn't sleep?

I was there 2 different nights. I had to sleep both nights. 1st time to measure how many times I stopped breathing. 2nd time was to wear the mask and tweak the air pressure settings. I did them both on Friday nights, that way I could get up Sat morning and not have to worry about going to work the next day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
