Girl, Peanut Butter is protien...lol Anyway, ur body is like WHT the hell is she doing...so u get those feelings of I NEED something other than just liquid. U are fighting against ur own mind. My mind says a Protein Drink or shake..is just that, a drink, where is the food? So u literally have 2 play tricks on urself. You will be fine. I ate 3 grilled chicken patties on my liquid diet not all at the same time but I did it & everything went fine. You can do this, trust me IF I can ANYBODY can.

Haha..My pity party was yesterday when I was making my husband and kids a nice home made meal and I sat at the table with my Jello lol. My husband looked at my bowl and I just told him to shut up and not talk to me. I had a good cry too. I never realized the hold that food had on me. Kinda disgusting when I think about it

It gets better. It is actually liberating when you get to day 7 or so. I was like this is amazing that I am doing this! I cheated day two with 2crackers bc I thought I would throw up but after that I haven't cheated. I am on day 9. Good luck :D

To make you feel better on my pre-op diet I had a very low calorie diet and ate Burger King once so it could have been much worst. However I don't regret it I lost a lot of weight on the pre-op diet and in a couple weeks you won't feel hungry anymore but there will still be challenges. I eat Peanut Butter every now and then post op so at least you cheated on something you can eat within a couple weeks post op! :)

The fact that you realized it's important not to cheat is a great sign. After you have your surgery, you won't be able to cheat for several weeks/months. You can do this! It's so worth it! :)

3 shakes and Clear Liquids for 2 weeks preop? Yowzers that's a long time. Get as creative as you can. Any rules about making your own? I make a high Protein Shake that is 6 oz skim or 1% milk, 1 tsp Peanut Butter, 1/4 banana (frozen if you can), and 1/4 cup ice cubes. It's the most filling of all of them for me.

That's good to know, I love PB! What I'd like to know is if there are any that taste like lasagna or chicken parm or pizza? If so, tell me where & I'll be headed there in 5!

Ok I start my pre op in July the second week. I've been doing this intermittent fasting thing off and on for days. I eat normal one day... Fast another. Fast and PRAY... IT IS HARD but I think I can do it when these 2 weeks approach. I love lurking in this particular thread because I FEEL everyone's pain if messing up. It's like... If I can't handle these two weeks what about AFTER SURGERY... And the panic attacks start.... This addiction is so twisted because we need food to live! We can't avoid it... I have to start doing samples NOW if pre op Protein and broths I like.

This is the part Im not looking forward to. Whenever i arm-wrestle with my brain, I lose. =C

An old trick is to revisit the source of your motivation. If you have a list of the things you cant do now that you want to do when you're more fit, hang it on the fridge.

Another way to trick yourself into having extra willpower is to tell yourself this diet is part of the surgery. Attitude is everything. If you were at the hospital, you'd have less trouble sticking to it. But since you're in your familiar kitchen (the place of most of our worst failings, right?) it doesnt feel like its part of your surgery. But it is! Maybe hang a pic of your doc on the fridge too with a little speech bubble saying "I need you to shrink that liver for me Jessica!" Hang one of those blue hospital masks with it if you have to. When it comes to fighting my brain, I plan to fight dirty!

How about mixing your Protein shake with skim milk plus(added protein) and add a few ice cubes and put in the blender. It's much more filling.

Good Luck you can do this!

I don't think I'm allowed milk. Only clear liquids and 3 shakes. I have the Premier Protein from costco. I've been good since. I got out a little and did some clothes shopping for my kids so I got my mind off of food. I can't wait to be on the losers side!

I know how you feel! I expect I'll cry when I end my love affair with sugary sodas. I know they can make my sleeve a failure so I'm saying goodbye to them forever before I get sleeved. It makes me sad and disgusted with myself at the same time.

:-P

Ok, so..... At least I'm not alone...... I cheated with some mashed potatoes today because I am so damn HUNGRY!! I have had a headache all day, im sad and angry and have to cook fir my family ( have a 9 year old), and these shakes are hard to drink, and personally I'm tired of drinking everything on this pre op!!! It's only day 3 of my 7 day pre op, but like a couple others, my girl that had the sleeve had NO pre op!!! Wth?!!? Soooooo, it seems like since one person ate hot wings the night before... And my friend had absolutely NO pre op.... And was fine.... How bad is it if I have a baked chicken wing?? It's making me doubt my decision.....but then i look at my friend who was a size 20 ( my current size) and is now a 4!!!!( if I could just get to a "single digit" size I would be sooooo happy. But today.... Even THAT thought can't replace my frustration and desire to cheat..... So..... Can I have a baked chicken wing? Lol

I was on a ten day diet but didn't start the Clear Liquids until 24 hours prior. It is emotionally gut wrenching watching others eat when you can't enjoy it. But it does get better! There is a light at the end of the tunnel! It will all be worth it!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
