on Dr. Oz today (Tuesday)

Recommended Posts

Just saw a commercial for the Dr. Oz show today. "The big food cover up" Something about a NY Times reporter who uncovered a 'food industry bombshell'. It says - Dr. Oz investigates why we may be addicted to salt, sugar and fat.

Anyway, I am going to record it and thought there might be others out here that would be interested in watching!

I honestly think they put chemicals in that stuff to make us addicted. It sounds conspiratory, but I think it's true!

It is absolutely not a conspiracy theory its REALITY>

If they don;t hook you with salt, fat and sugar they can't sell that product to the masses,

I know when I eat a Cheetos I can;t stop at one or a cookie. and when they say low fat or sugar free I get even more worried about what is in there.

I don't think I've ever successfully eaten less than a half-bag of chips in one go.

I agree. I'm a food aholic and I believe it, just like putting nicotein etc in cigs. These big corporations are out to make money. They don't care about our health. I hate eating nutrasweet now. I've been completely off of it for 6 months and now I have to eat foods with it. It just makes you crave more sweets. I'm really trying to eat healthy, My daughter is vegan and no gmo's etc. off milk and on almond milk....less calories and more Calcium. I will watch it...but I have tried some of Dr Oz weight loss remedies with no luck. Got a cupboard full of various capsules.

It is all about profit! I recently read a book titled "Salt, Sugar, Fat" by Michael Moss....it was all about the way companies find ways to keep us addicted to their products and how they try to hide it.

I agree, not much better than the Tabaco industry!

How can we blame them? We had the power to choose foods for ourselves. They market what people want. If we wanted to eat healthy, the produce isle has never left the grocery store.

True, but so many of those products are dyed, waxed, genetically modified, or otherwise ruined in an attempt to appeal to the customer :(

Unless it is organic, we have NO idea what chemicals they used to grow the produce. :(

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
