Looking for a buddy in DE

Preferably Kent County. There aren't any support groups down in this part of the state and I think having someone to talk to and maybe work out with would be great. Doesn't matter if you're pre-op or post-op either.

Hi, In am in Sussex county. I'm surpised there are no support groups in Kent! Obviously, we won't be able to work out together but I would be happy to talk.

I know, right? I was told there used to be one but I guess it fell apart with lack of members. Kind of sad considering how many people in this area are getting surgery. I was invited to the one up in New Castle but that's about it. Thanks for responding and I'd love to have someone with the experience to talk to.

There are support groups here in Rehoboth and also Salisbury for Delmarva Bariatric. I have had a lapband for almost 6 years....lost around 90 lbs in the first two years...had some issues...gained 40 back. I am currently having my preop tests done and hope to have either the RNY or Sleeve in October. Still researching. So I'm not much help on those yet.

I met quite a few people at my pre-surg meetings that had the lap-band and gained most of their weight back.. I guess the main complaint was that it was just not strict enough and allowed them to overeat way too easily.. I was originally going to go with Lap Band but I eventually came to terms with the fact that I needed something more restrictive than that but not as restrictive as RNY. I started my Optifast diet yesterday (which sucks but i'm already down 4 lbs in one day lol) and will have my surgery on the 22nd.. I'm super nervous but really excited at the same time. I hope things work out for you and you figure out which surgery is the best option for you. Keep me posted!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
