exactly two weeks post op

Recommended Posts

This has been a rough two weeks. I ended up having two surgeries. I had a hernia they fixed at the same time. I am very independent so having to have help and realize my limitations has been rough. The first week was nothing but pain. This past week ive been stronger, and I even got on the treadmill. I listened to my body though, 25 min is apparently my cutoff this week. Maybe next week will be 30. I have my two week checkup monday. I already know I am down 21 lbs. Im excited to be okd for smooshy food. Ive bought my food processor and ordered books. And I ordered skin tightening moisturizer. I want to avoid extra skin as much as possible. Well....thats all I can think of right now. Look forward to speaking with people going through the same thing.

Congrats on your surgery, glad you're ok and it sounds like your getting better, good luck on your journey and oh...don't go crazy wasting money on those skin tightening creams, I've heard from several people that it can get very costly and doesn't prevent or improve sagging skin. I feel like some of us stop buying weight loss pills but replace it with skin tightening cremes. And look where that got us lol. Save your money.

Thank you. I was still sore today but managed to do 40 minutes walking uphill. I know it was a shot in the dark with the tightening lotion. Just figured I'd rather try and know rather than not try.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
