I'm 24 days post-op and decided to hold my 3mo old nephew (18lbs) for the first time today. Immediately started feeling pain on my right side after putting him down and now (few hours later) I have a Stitch poking out of one of my incisions.

All my other incisions are fully closed (I hope).

What to do? What to do? I typed some gauze of the incision but should I call the doctor?

I had a tiny piece of stitch poking out and that incursion became inflamed and infected. At my 5 week appointment Tuesday, they told me if I see it, yank it out because that area won't heal until its gone. BUT I would TOTALLY call them FIRST. They said sometimes the thread isn't tucked in right and just doesn't dissolve like the rest.

I had one too. The doctor said it was my body's way of reacting to the foreign body. It ended up going back under the skin and completely healed.

So the doc said he would like for me to try yanking it out (ugh no) or cut it and place a bandaid over the incision.

He said if I leave it as is it won't heal. He did ask me to monitor it to be sure it doesn't become infected.

I pulled mine out last night. You just have to slightly tug on it for a little while. Once it comes out it feels so much better.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
