Mine will be 7 days of liquids...not sure if they have to be clear. The nutritionist will give me a weeks worth of food to get me through it. I am so nervous about doing this and failing....I mean I'm fat for a reason. It's not like I have amazing self control.

On day one of my pre-op diet -- 2 Protein shakes a day and 1 hearty Soup a day (whatever that means exactly)

no caffeine' date=' no anything bubbly (ever again)

I can have sugar free Jello, popsicles, and pudding during the pre-op diet

I can also have sugar free drinks.

Then, 2 days before surgery -- clear liquids only.

Since today is day 1 of my pre-op diet, I have a bad headache today -- I'll probably go home after work and just go to bed and sleep it off.[/quote']

How was your rest ?? That's the same thing I did !

Mine starts tomorrow! It is 5 Protein Shakes or bars a day plus 5oz of lean meat and 2 cups of non starchy vegetables and a teeny tiny amount of fat (like 6 almonds worth). The day before surgery I must have a liquid diet for dinner and nothing past 10 p.m.

I had a 2 week liquid diet w/2 days clear liquids right before surgery. I lived on Protein shakes' date=' G2 gatorade, Water, broth and Jello. yum yum. lol. I had my doctor take a picture of my liver during surgery and give it to me afterwards because i wanted proof of how pretty it was after I survived that diet![/quote']

That is hilarious and ingenious. Lol. I start my preop diet tomorrow...a little proof at the end would be great incentive! :)

I did fairly well for my first day, considering the huge headache I had. Took a benadryl for my allergies, went to bed early, and slept the hunger off.

I was okay this morning when I got up but I have a headache now. Guess I'll pop a couple of Tylenol for the headache.

I can't remember who it was that posted that motivational piece yesterday, but it kept me going. Thanks for that.

Today is my 1st day. Slight headache after the shake at noon. Did a 20 min walk at lunch in 100 degree heat (probably not so smart.). So far so good. dinner will be a test since I am traveling and will be eating at a restaurant.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
