Clear liquid diet and my feeling weak and sick

Recommended Posts

I'm having my surgery in 2 days and I'm on a clear liquid diet, I feel so weak and dizzy at times.. What are some good drinks or liquids that has some Protein in it to help not feel weak or dizzy? I need ideas please!

I would add some unflavored Isopure Protein Powder to chicken broth or try the chicken broth flavored Protein powder in water...Unjury has a good chicken flavored powder.

I've been feeling the same. I'm on day 3 of the liquid diet...I have my surgery tomorrow.

I've been making sure I drink 2 Isopures a day (40 grams of Protein each). They are nasty (in my opinion lol)...so try to add some Mio, Crystal Light, etc to it. And maybe even put it with ice in a blender and make a smoothie. The broth is good (I like the beef broth too), and sugar free popsicles I have some of the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken stuff...but I noticed it has milk in it and my NUT and doc said no milk stuff until after surgery. So, I would check on that before :)

The Isopure actually mixes in really well IMO but you must be sure that the liquid is less than 140* degrees. I tried adding it to my fresh brewed coffee once a d would liked to have died. Had to pour it out. If the liquid is steaming and hot to the touch then the Iso just seems to curdle.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
