Hi everyone...I was sleeved on 4-25-13. I started at 317 pre op. Surgery weight was 309. I'm now 288 which I'm so happy about however, I've been at the same weight for 3+ weeks. At my checkup I was told I needed to increase my calories to 1500 from were I was at 600-800. I also workout at minimum 3 x's a week. I weigh myself once a week (well maybe 2) and I'm so sad. I've been looking around for weeks on this site for pointers but I haven't found something to help me break this stall...please help me guys! Sigh* Thanks in advance....

I have read that some people can stall for weeks. Increasing calories is suppose to jump start that stall (I think). Try measuring yourself and see if you have lost more inches. If you have gone 3 weeks I'm going to bet that very soon the weight is going to melt off like you never stalled. Also, what kind of exercise are you doing? Any chance you have gained some muscle?

It must be incredibly frustrating! I'm on day 4 of a stall and feel a big sigh coming on.

I've read around, n just being an avid dieter, the body is an amazing thing! U may be stalling bc ur body, which is NOT use to the calorie limitations, may b tryin to protect itself by going into starvation mode n holding on to that weight for survival. So yes, if ur dietitian said increase, they r correct, bc once it feels its being fed, it'll start to reward u by letting go. I'm sure ur NUT wudn lead u astray considering all uve just gone threw w surgery. Just mho. Good luck yall.

Thanks guys. I usually do a little bit of resistance. I walk on the treadmill for a mile and 8 miles on the bike. Both are about 20 min each. I'm trying the eliptacle but can only do like 3 min cause my chubby legs feel like Jello lol my stamina is getting better the more I go...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
