I have been through a series of testing. I've seen many doctors, Cardiologist, pulmonologist, psychologist, etc. I've done testing like EKG, chest X-ray, PFT, etc. I'm now at the nuclear stress test and I'm terrified!!!! What is a nuclear stress test???

Funny you should ask! I just sat at the hospital this morning with my mom who was having a Nuclear Stress Test.. it sounds much scarier than it is...basically the will put in an IV and inject a very low amount of radiation into you.. then half an hour later they will take pictures of your heart ..then they will put you on a tread mill...get your heart rate up and then do one more injection and take pictures again! I'm not sure that yours will be exactly the same but I'm sure it will be very similar

I hope it went well. I just had my stress test today, but was able to do it on the treadmill. They told me if I couldn't do it on the treadmill or my heart rate wouldn't go up (yeah right) they would convert to the nuclear stress test. I didn't know what it was either, but I knew I didn't want it:). Let us know how it went. Mine was awesome. I was on the treadmill with no shirt and no bra. Really?!! I'm 43, have nursed three babies for years and look like a national geographic special. It should have been illegal! But it's over.

Mine took less than an hour. 3 minutes on that treadmill and my heart rate was up there. Sad but true.

I had a two day stress test. The first day they put in the IV and injected a small amount of radio active particals. You wait a while and they take some pictures. Nothing to it. The next day, they did the same thing, but also injected a drug that increased my heart rate for a couple minutes and monitored on an EKG. Then took more pictures. It is painless and not bad at all. No treadmill and only had to remove my bra, but kept my top on.

Thank you, Sheri. That really calms my nerves and makes me feel much better. Did it make you feel tired or wired?

It made me a little tired later in the day. Had a headache after the chemical induced increased heart rate, but they gave me an injection and it worked right away.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
